Comments about Gretsch Drums Catalina Club 4-piece Jazz Shell Pack:
Got this kit after learning and playing for 3 years on a Costco drum set. I love it! It is fantastic. I got a bit worried because it was mahongany, because of some other things that people said about it being too muffled or deep, but it is perfect for the blues and rock that I play. I got it because I wanted a kit that was small and easy to move/use, but had good tone, and that is exactly what I got.

Comments about Gretsch Drums Catalina Club 4-piece Jazz Shell Pack:
I initially purchased the three-piece Ludwig shell pack, which included mounted and floor toms, and bass drum. I returned them because despite extensive tuning, the drums sounded marginal for my sensibilities.
I then ordered the Catalina Club Jazz kit online - they arrived in perfect shape, and with assembly, minor tuning, and the addition of a pillow in the bass drum, they sound amazing. They were also less expensive than the Ludwig kit. Construction is very good, and the copper sparkle color is unique and a nice throwback. Get some!
Pros
- Small footprint
- Sound good - project well
- Very easy to transport

Comments about Gretsch Drums Catalina Club 4-piece Jazz Shell Pack:
Love this kit. Carries it's own (in a five piece) takes up a small footprint on stage and is light and easy to transport. All drums are solid and hardware is good. I use evans damper rings to get a bigger tone from these smaller drums. Perfect for restaurants, small bars and clubs etc. I get lots of compliments on tone and projection. Lots of bang for the buck.

Comments about Gretsch Drums Catalina Club 4-piece Jazz Shell Pack:
i recieved this kit for a gifrt last year and i must say i love it i have played in a couple bands but i like playing solo. i have used this set to recored on poor to decent mics and it all pics up good i play big band experimental and a sort of groove music. the tom sound good i replaced the batter head because they were wearing off on my drumstick head and it was markin up my cymbal which is extreamly diffilcult but i replace the head i love the sound! nice and thick too! i am a decent drummer i do not play shows but i have limmited space and it fits perfectly and all colors are amazing the only problems it the bass it is well made but i cant get the sound i am from all the other drums i think i am going to try some new heads and see how it sounds get this set for intermediat to pro levals i love it
Comments about Gretsch Drums Catalina Club 4-piece Jazz Shell Pack:
For the money, best drums being sold today.
After playing a friends set and hearing the sound from his little drums with a natural finish, I had to purchase my own. I decided on a copper wrap for more a vintage look. With slight tuning they sounded fantastic. I play all kinds of music from country to hard rock and needed a smaller kit for transport ease and small stages and this little guy fits the bill nicely. I have two older vintage kits(rogers and slingerland) since i purchased this set neither of them have left the house. I never thought of playing a regular gig with them until i miked them up with a good set of mics. Wow crisp, tight sound, with fast decay, the sound guys love em. The only suggestion I would make is if you are using them for live performances besides miking i would change the batter side snare and bass drums heads. I replaced the stock heads with a Remo Emperor on the snare and a Remo power stroke 3 smooth white on the batter side of the bass drum. The new heads still get a nice jazz sound that works with any kind of music, but the durability of the heads is far geater and the bottom end of that bass drum will suprise you. I have had several drummers inquire how i get that sound of such a small bass drum. By far the best set of drums for the price. From beginners to the working pro this is the best bang for the buck, hands down.
