You will not find a better maple kit at this price. I just finished recording a live ep with this kit and was blown away by the sound I got out of it. These toms sound so good when playing live and recording. Becareful, you will want to start playing excessive rolls and fills just because of the amazing tom sound. If you want a thick, meaty Jon Bonham drums sound on the cheap, buy this kit, it is better than my previous maple ludwig kits.

I know your probably being a bit judgemental about buying a Gretsch kit if you haven't owened one before. Dont worry, I was too, I was about to buy a Tama kit but unfortunatly my order got lost, so the guy at the music store gave me a good deal on this kit. I was really upset I couldn't get the Tama kit, until this kit was set up in my basement. Since then, the only thing ill be buying from Tama is thier double pedals. Have a good one!
Im going to be honest, this kit at its stock level is nothing over the top. The heads are pretty cheap (especially the bass drum) and the snare wires aren't the best eaither. BUT, throw some Remo heads on there and you will be blown away! I took the snappy off my Vinne Paul signature snare from Pearl, threw it on the snare that came with this kit, and there is a world of difference! My kit sounds better than any Yamaha or Mapex kit ive played, sounds even better than my friends Tama Hyper-drive kit! Oh and p.s put a kickport on the bass drum, and say hello to a bazooka. Enough said.
Solid drums, amasing finish... the signature Gretsch tom mount is extremly sturdy, but the downstem of the mount that goes into the bass drum does not affect the sound at all. I got my kit with the hardware package from Gibraltar and I dont regret it, they are very durable and heavy so you know everything is being held in place, for good.
You seriously do not need to look farther. If your a drummer like me, who isn't famous (yet) and doesnt need a $5000 kit but wants a nice, quality, great sounding drum set that you will love to play and take care of, get your credit card out right now!

I was taking a very long time trying to decide what kit to get, in short I made the right choice. You cannot get a better kit for the price. The one problem I had was that one of the bass drum tension rods would not fit in the clamp, I have e-mailed Gretsch and they are sending me a new one.

This set was worth the money indeed. It looks great, sounds great, and the hardware is solid. I did not pay for shipping. The Complete set came in 2 boxes and arrived all at once. NO TAX which was hard for any competitors to match. The set came with evans skins which were low grade but any experienced drummer is gonna buy new skins for the sound that they prefer. I was never a fan of buying something on line that I could not see in person but Musician's Friend showed me otherwise. The employee's were friendly and knowledgable. I played all different makes of drums, This is my first Gretsch set and I Love It!!

I was very pleased with this kit. The shells were of very good quality and have a fantastic tone. The skins that came with the kit were good quality for a factory set, and keep their tuning decently well. The hardware in general is of a very high quality, and the ball-in-socket tom mounting system is phenomenally versatile. However, the complementary eight inch tom that comes with the product does not ship with a mount. This is a small issue, but was still worth mentioning. Overall, this is an excellent kit.

I still miss my old 60's round badge Bop kit...should never have sold it...so far this kit has been an honorable replacement and due to the configuration could seriousely make me less nostalgic for that old set. I've played other brands but it's true that there is "that great Gretsch sound" and this kit has it!

5 of the hoops were horribly bent. I contacted musicians friend to see about getting them replaced. I already replaced the drum heads and they said the only way to exchange was to have the original heads still on it. NO HELP whatsoever. DO NOT BUY THIS KIT!!! DO NOT DEAL WITH MUSICIANS FRIEND. They will screw you over in the long run.

This kit was my 4th try on getting a quality kit for gigging. I tried Yamaha, Crush and Tama. Nothing compares. Out of the box this thing sounds great. As usual I'm sure new heads will improve the sound. The finish is out of this world and the sound is everything you would expect from Gretsch. BUY IT!!!

nothing better. I came up from a Pearl Forum and wasn't sure if this is what I wanted.All I can say is that it more than met expectations.yeah you can spend 10grand on a professional set, but the bottom line is this is a great set. The Evans heads are a little cheap and dent easy, but thats an easy fix. just slap on some EC2's and you're gonna get a beautiful sound that you can change for any style

This is my second kit, in fact i used my savings to buy it because my old kit broke. I couldn't be happier with this kit and i highly suggest it.
the hardware on this kit is very good. the tom mount is solid as can be and so are the tom legs.
these drums sound great once you get some decent heads on them. i suggest evans g2. the kick drum is AMAZING right now when i'm not playing gigs with it it sits in my parents basement and they always yell at how loud it is. its awesome. also, the snare is impecable, the tunability of this drum is rediculous
this is the best deal i could find for the price. nothing beats this kit

For the money, you get 7 drums with some nice mounting hardware (you still have to get the hi hat stand, snare stand, and bass pedal). The quality is high. The heads sound nice. Very tough to beat for the money.
I was a little sceptical with the amber color, but after I bought it, it looks really good. I'm very happy with the set overall. The 8" tom sounds nice. The ball and socket tom mounts are really nice for manuvering the toms into place. It's a really quality set for the money.
I think they look great, put together great, and all of the mounting hardware is very nice.
Really tough to beat this set for the money.

This kit was just not for me. I don't own this kit, but the highschool I go to has one. I play on it for jazz band. It's fine for Jazz, Ska, Country, ect but I play rock and metal, and the toms are just too small and high pitch for my use. Would not recommend this kit if you plan to play rock or metal. Perfect for casual Jazz, Ska, or country players.
This kit may have lots of toms, but they are extremely high pitched and are extremely hard to tune down with them still sounding good. I would not recomend this kit for people playing rock or metal. It's good for ska and genres like that.
Very well made kit. I gave it a 9 because of it's crappy drum heads. Easily replaceable, though.
Your only paying for it because of all the extra toms and the quality maple wood its made from. Kit just isn't worth what your paying for it.
