Commemorating the inexorable link between Gretsch and Brooklyn, New York from foundation, the Gretsch Brooklyn Series Shell Pack takes you back to the purity of hand craftsmanship while taking percussion forward. Built in the US by a team of veteran drum builders, Gretsch Brooklyn Series shells are constructed of 6-ply North American maple and poplar (snare/bass shells are .31", toms are .22" thick) with the proprietary Gretsch 30-degree bearing edge and finished with the interior Silver Sealer. Each delivers a distinct, open attack while retaining the ability to create a warm ambiance for down-tempo numbers.
The hardware for the Gretsch Brooklyn is reminiscent of the 1950s, generously-designed and durable. The classic "302" hoops, fitted on both the batter and resonant sides, are 3mm and double-flanged for full accents and rimshots. All other drum hardware components - lugs, claws, brackets, spurs, etc - are the same as used on the Gretsch USA Custom series.
A return to a memorable era for Gretsch Drums is also signified by a return to the Brooklyn Round Badge.
Cymbals and hardware not included.

Comments about Gretsch Drums USA Brooklyn Series 4-Piece Shell Pack:
Recently purchased the vintage cream oyster version of these drums with the 22 kick drum. Before I comment, I've played many many years, funk, big band and ensemble jazz and classic rock and R&B.
I compared these to my first generation Yamaha Custom Absolute Maple drums. The Gretsch have a slightly warmer tone and the harmonics off the head have a bit more spread. The drums have a great sound, lots of projection, dynamics are great and the vintage coated Remo Emperor heads produce a great full bodied tone. The rims are very thick double flanged hoops and produce a similar harmonic spread on rim shots to the Yamaha kit with lots of power.
The bass drum is a modern design 22x18. The tone has more attack than the Yamaha but slightly less bottom end. Both kits recorded well when I made my comparison and both have superb workmanship and quality.
I really do like the fact that the Gretsch kit employs US labor and material (helps the trade deficit in a small way, . . . most folks probably don't care). That said the best part of the kit are the slightly shallow toms. I'm not super tall and the shallower toms allow for the kit to fit me like a 20" bass (by hanging them lower) with the tone and articulation of a 22". This is a big deal for drummers that prefer smaller kits but like a big tone.
Finally, the tan oyster finish, chrome plating quality, fit and finish are first rate. These are really great drums built to a very high standard at a mid tier price point. Highly recommended. Oh the Yamahas are really great too. I've had them since the late 90s.
