        Grombal

        Protection for your cymbals.

The Grombal is an innovative way to mount your cymbals that helps to protect them from the normal wear and tear of drumming. It is simply constructed and durable, and works by reducing the contact area on the top of your cymbal while also providing isolation from felts or bare washer support. It also decreases the shoulder diameter, which creates longer sustain.

The one-piece flexible design presses into the cymbal's center hole and stays put. It has a low total profile that allows you to stack your cymbals in your cases without removing the Grombal cymbal mount. For drummers and drum techs alike, there is now a simple way to mount and protect your cymbals with fewer loose parts.

        Features

        • One Grombal
        • Reduced diameter shoulder for more sustain
        • Large base for isolation from felts or bare support washer
        • Reduced contact area on the top
        • One-piece flexible design presses in and stays put
        • Clean, sharp, low profile look
        • Low total profile means you can stack your cymbals with the Grombal in place
        • 1-1/2"-diameter

Protects and optimizes the sound of your cymbals.

Tested it 1st on an old (discontinued) Sabian B8Pro 22"inch Heavy Ride. Very heavy cymbal(6-8 lbs.)Slightly keyholed. Surprizing freedom of movement. No restriction what so ever. I do recommend a washer metal/Plastic underneath of the same diameter. All plastics/rubber can break down over time and become brittle(nature of the beast). For crash and small and or light cymbals you might try adding a soft felt between washer and cymbal to accomedate that up and down movement some drummers prefer. and you probably should use a wingnut or locknut on top especially if you tilt your cymbals. What's a keyhole compared to your cymbal rolling off the stage onto a concrete floor...LOL Jst say'n. And finally when you go to put this thing on. Boil some water and toss the Grombal in for 5-10 minutes this should soften it up Abit! And as one of the other guys suggested. Press in one half at a time while rotating the Grombal and cupping the bell in one hand. Steady pressure and patience..Hope this helped

I bought these a year ago thinking, like others, that this would help reduce set up and tear down time of my kit. One, I was never able to get them on. I had to get my bassist to put them in for me. Even for him, they were difficult. Once on the cymbals, they sometimes made it difficult for me to take the cymbal on and off the stand. However, I continued to use them. I really thought they were especially useful with my china. But really, I could have cared less if they were on my crashes. About a couple of weeks ago, one of the grombels actually broke. It was on my crash. I thought, "Well geez, I've only had these things for less than year." Thankfully, I was at practice not playing a show. Seriously, they are not all that great. I never really felt they were quite reliable. I think for effect cymbals, the grombels are useful. For other cymbals, not so much. I would rather spend the 30 seconds putting a wing nut on and knowing that it will not break than to use the grombels and one might break in the middle of a show.

I hvae not owned them for very long, so i don't know how they last. But i don't notice all that much sound quality difference between them and the felts.
My cymbals aren't the best either.

                Comments about Grombal Cymbal Mount:

Once you learn the trick to installing, it's a breeze. Easy to set up and tear down plus you can swap out rides (if you wish) in less than 5 seconds. I detect just a slight bit more sustain from my cymbals but not 100% sure I could tell blindfolded. In other words, the real value in this product is the ease of setup and your cymbals are protected by being able to move more freely. the only cymbals that these may not be great w/ is chinas. I have an 18" nova (has normal bell and mounts like a crash) that it's great w/ it. I also have a 15" HH standard china inverted that gets really phasey due to the excessive movement. Also note that w/ the grombal installed, cymbals will not stack together as neatly in your case or cymbal bag. Hope this helps.

Great way to protect cymbals, keep cymbal action healthy, and have a nice easy set up. Works great on effects cymbals and ride, although didn't like for china. Also not mentioned but they prefer you keep bottom washer on to increase life of the grombal. Otherewise love em and will use them from now on.

                      Comments about Grombal Cymbal Mount:

like anything, grombals have pros and cons. they are VERY well made. nigh indestructible. they are a bit of a chore to install, but if they weren't, they wouldn't work as good. i used a screwdriver, and had four of them installed in a couple of minutes. i love deleting the wingnuts. it's amazing how much time these save, and they isolate and protect the cymbals just fine. the problems arise when putting them in a cymbal vault. i have two vaults, and two groups of cymbals. i use grombals on the cymbals i keep in my skb vault, as they will not fit in my protechtor vault. they add significantly to the thickness of the cymbal in the case. you won't be able to remove these after each use- that would defeat the purpose. the center pin in my protechtor vault is too large to accomodate the grombals, so i've resigned myself to using them on only the cymbals i keep in the skb vault. i recommend them, but with conditions. be prepared to do a little monkeying around (unless you bag your cymbals).

These things are great. Regardless of other reviews I've read, they're easy to put in and you only have to do it once :)

They make setting up and tearing down a snap (every second counts for some gigs). I've got them on all my cymbals, (save the hi-hats) and only two require an extra metal cymbal washer beneath the Grombal for balance (more due to the size of the stand shaft than anything).

                          Highly recommended.

                          Keyhole preventer

                          Comments about Grombal Cymbal Mount:

Set up time is slightly quicker but the cymbal protection is what I like.
As regular cymbal holders wear out (the liner/spacer) on the cymbal stand, your chances of damaging your cymbal with keyholing increases. This removes the chance completely. You do have to readjust the height of the stand because the cymbal will sit lower with no felt underneath it -- not a big deal. The Grombal is stiff but not hard to install on the cymbal if you use a lubricant; I used a teflon based white bicycle grease -- just a smear -- and it went right on. The price seems a little high but it should last a lifetime. Great quality.
This is more than just soft plastic. The quality is excellent for supporting the weight of the cymbal plus preventing keyholing. Should last a lifetime.
You'll never have to buy replacements.

                          So easy to use

                          Comments about Grombal Cymbal Mount:

These are so easy to use it's ridiculous. I don't know why some reviewers have claimed a hard time putting them in. Sure, with some smaller-belled cymbals it's a little tight, but it won't take more than a minute to get it in even something as small as a 10" splash and it saves time every day thereafter. I'm surprised that none of my local music shops, (both corporate and mom & pop shops) have ever even heard of them.
Nice big "washer" bottom side, tastefully sized top, it gives just the right amount of support to the cymbal without muting it or holding too tight. Nothing to drop, no loosening or tightening, these are great!
So far it's indestructible and holds up great. No sign of wear after several practices and a 4-hour gig.
A great and inexpensive way to save time and frustration.

They only thing I need now is something to keep the washer on the stand when you take the cymbal off. I'm thinking a little rubber gasket from my hard ware store!!
