KAT

An innovative digital kit with features and a price for acoustic percussionists.

The KT1 by KAT Percussion features over 150 sounds with 10 user-programmable drum set configurations that emulate a wide range of musical styles — from rock to reggae, jazz to electronic. KAT digital sounds and drum kit set-ups were all carefully created and engineered by professional drummers. This has resulted making a KAT Drum Set a more realistic and drummer-friendly experience than other kit in its price range.

In addition to 150 percussion sounds and 10 programmable kits, the KT1 USB Control Module comes with 40 play-along tracks that you can jam to and a metronome click-track with nine time signatures to help you lock in your groove. In addition to USB/MIDI connectivity and 1/8" and 1/4" I/O jacks, the module also features an adjustable on/off reverb and a built-in MIDI sound library.

The drum pads specially designed rubber, trigger pads are 8" in diameter and respond with a familiar stick rebound that feels completely natural. The cymbals include a 10" hi-hat and chokeable crash, along with an overzied 12" ride. All of the cymbal pads are height and angle adjustable. Filling out the low end of this setup, the kick tower (included) features an 8" pad and an engineered support structure for an authentic bass drum feel.

Mount all of these components on a pre-assembled rack with high-quality, non-slip rack with a pre-labeled wire harness. Then turn on the module, choose your settings and start playing!

Comments about KAT KT1-US 5-Piece Electronic Drum Kit:

Brain is very limited. Plenty of preprogamming but too limited on customized sounds. Not very sensitive or dynamic.
Too expesive, even at the sale price for the toy that it is.

Comments about KAT KT1-US 5-Piece Electronic Drum Kit:

First let me give credit where it is due. I have owned my KAT kit for about 3 1/2 months. Through the failure of first high hat pad after about 2 months, then the main controller and high hat pedal about a month later, the KAT company has been reasonable in replacing these items. However, now after about a week after playing "another" new hat pad, the pad has stopped working! Whether this is the pad or the main controller ("brain") I do not know. I have called the local music store where I had purchased the kit and he is going to call the company and have them send another pad. I am hoping that the company will continue to replace these items as they fail.
When I first purchased this kit I was very happy with the sound and the feel of most of the drums and cymbals. The only fault I found lied in the ride cymbal which tended to play at a much lower volume, and was less responsive than the rest of the components. Still, I accepted this flaw and was happy until the high hat pad stopped working. The volume on the pad kept falling and eventually the pad sent no signal at all. Even then, I understood that things happen and thought that it was just a matter of a bad pad. As I stated above, the company was reasonable in sending a new pad (it was the wrong pad, but they did send it). The next thing to go out was the high hat foot controller and "brain" (they were never certain which). I was told to bring the pad, wiring harness, main controller, and foot pedal to my local dealer which I did. The dealer checked out everything and called the company stating that he was uncertain as to the cause of the problem. A couple of days later I received a call and was told that the company was sending out a new kit. Fair enough.
After about a week I received the new kit and set It up. Now, though suspicious of the quality based on recent experience, I was happy to have the new kit and hoped that all would go well with it. After about a week (probably 3 days of actual playing) the high hat pad is out again. As I stated above, the local dealer is going to ask them to send out another pad.
I am generally not one to write a bad review about anything. I don't like the idea of writing a review that may hurt a business just because I happened to get the one bad product they produced. However, with so many component failures in such a short time, I have to reasonable conclude that the KAT kits are just poorly made. While I don't expect a Roland kit at the price of the KAT, I do expect that a brand new kit would last more than a few months without multiple problems. Unless you want to potentially spend a lot of time waiting for replacement parts, and less time drumming, I would recommend avoiding this product.
