The KickPort's design enhances the sound of your kick drum by porting the kick drum in the same manner as a bass reflex speaker cabinet, which boosts low frequencies. It adds ideal dampening directly to the resonant head, which allows you to remove most—if not all—of the internal materials, thus reclaiming all of the natural resonance and tone of your drum. The KickPort bass drum enhancement also focuses the air as it exits the kick drum, creating a natural compression that increases punch.
As if that wasn't enough, it's tunable! Due to its broadband design, the KickPort bass drum enhancement improves the sound of bass drums sized 16" to 28." It can be tuned up or down by adjusting the tuning of the resonant head.

I have put this product on 3 different bass drums...It is amazing! If you can tune a bass drum, then a kickport will help you feel it in your chest. You can move this to other kits... you can take this on and off without tearing up your resonant head. There are some people writing reviews on this product that probably can't tie their shoes if they are having the problems they described. The only reason I bought a second kickport is that I sold my Yamaha Recording Customs, and the guy who bought them said the kickport had to come with it. I now have a kick port on my DW Customs and it made a big improvement again. If your shells are cut well, you have good heads, and you can tune a bass drum.... then this product will make an incredible difference. If you can't do the first three, then do not buy this product.

If you already have a nice drum set, don't waste your money on this overhyped piece of plastic. I bought one today and have to warn you. This ugly accessory makes any kick drum look cheap and tacky. And, more importantly, the product takes away from the real sound of the drum. I happen to have a nice set of drums (C&C), and this product takes away from the natural sound of them, almost to the point where the kick drum doesn't sound like it belongs with the rest of the kit. The only good reason to buy this would be If you're looking for more attack and punch, especially if you have a lower end kit that needs some more umph. But be warned of the lopsided volume increase.

I'm very satisfied with the results. It provides a distinctive lower frequency boom or full round tone that my 22" bass drum lacked. I thought I needed a 24" for a bigger sound but I'll be contented with the 22" now. And it's not as boomy as a 24". It's not too boomy.
A new beater head improved the attack and now I'll add a pillow to provide that additional kind of feel and sound,or pillowy effect. It should be about perfect then.

To the people saying it rattles,my guess is you didn't install it correctly.I've only used it in my practice room so far,but I can hear the difference even from behind.More bottom & it's rounder & fuller from my old Ludwig 14x24.

I recently installed the Kick-Port. The band members said the attack is much sharper and they can now feel the bass kick more. As far as the other guys they said it did enhance the sound.
Very rugged construction!
Its a little expansive but worth it.
