Comments about LP444 Bracket for Vibra-Slap:

I haven't found a way to get the sound from a slap with it mounted that equals that of when it's in your hand. I even went so far as to get a rubber 1-inch dowel, snip off about a 2-inch length, drill a 1/4-inch hole down the length and slice one side open so that I could wrap the handle of the slap in the rubber. This makes it so that it will mount in many cymbal accessory arms. But playing it that way didn't give me the sustain I was looking for. But I left the rubber on for how the thing is easier to hold. :-)

Doesn't Work Well

By Drumming Gal

Comments about LP444 Bracket for Vibra-Slap:

Don't bother buying this one.
While the idea of having a "hands free" option available for any and all percussion instruments is appealing for many reasons, this bracket fails to work. The concept is a good one and the Vibra-Slap works great with the bracket attached, and with the bracket fastened to a mounting arm. But as soon as the mounting arm is clamped to a stand, the instrument loses virtually all the resonant quality.

I spent over an hour experimenting with different configurations and mounting solutions with unacceptable results.

Flawed By Design

Comments about LP444 Bracket for Vibra-Slap:

As many have already mentioned, the concept of a mount for a vibra-slap is, in itself, flawed. I won't beat a dead horse by continuing that conversation. I agree that it doesn't let the instrument sustain, nor does it hold the instrument well. Perhaps the designer of the mount should look at redesigning the instrument to compatible with the mount. Perhaps simply welding another piece of metal to the vibra-slap arm that could be inserted into the mount. Maybe that would allow the instrument to resonate longer. I'm sure there would still be some abbreviation of sustain, but it would probably sustain longer that directly clamp the arm.

Mutes the vibra-slap

Comments about LP444 Bracket for Vibra-Slap:

Whilst it would be a beautiful thing if you could mount the vibraslap in your rig with this bracket (LP444), if you actually want the instrument to sound for more than a few clatters, this thing is unusable. It totally mutes the instrument.

Vibra Slap Mounting Bracket

By guyb987

from East Coast

Comments about LP444 Bracket for Vibra-Slap:

The whole concept of trying to clamp something which should not be clamp-mounted is a flaw with this item. The mount's designed clamping system would not securely hold the instrument in place to begin with. Even reshaping the mount to properly hold the instrument proved flawed. The instrument's characteristics were severly diminished mounting it to this item. This mount just doesn't allow the instrument to vibrate freely. You can't clamp the resonating arm of the vibra slap and expect it to function properly. The energy created by stricking the ball is lost the moment you supress it in any way. This is a very poor design and it failed to do what it was intended to do.

Duct tape works better!

By -Scott-

Comments about LP444 Bracket for Vibra-Slap:

This clamp is incapable of supporting a vibra-slap of any amount of playing. It usually takes one to five strikes before it lets the instrument drop to the floor.

It needs to be wider and more solid

By Anonymous

Comments about LP444 Bracket for Vibra-Slap:

The vibra slap works only if the ball is alowed to vibrate. This bracket holds on well, but it's just not heavy duty enough for what it's meant to be mounted on. If it were mounted on the main cymbal stand, that might help, but the vibra slap itself loses a lot of its sustain mounted on more puny hardware that is extended away from the cymbal stand, and that's what it's made to be mounted on. The bracket is not useless, but your vibraslap will get better sustain if you just hold the arm in your hand and hit the ball. It's a neat sound effect to have, with or without the bracket.
