Comments about LP Strap-lock Bongo Mount For Slide Mount Conga Stand:
I bought this item in the hopes that I would be able to use this bracket to mount my LP Fiberglass bongos to one of the many various drum stands that I already own. There were two problems. The item that I recieved is not the same as what is pictured. The part number on both the invoice and the box appear to be correct, however, so I can only assume that it's just an old photo of an older version of this rack. What I got looks almost exactly like the LP Aspire Bongo mount (including the Aspire logo) and no slide mount. I suppose that would have been fine (I creatively managed to get it to mount to one of my Yamaha cymbal stands by drilling holes in an LP percussion clamp) until I discovered that the strap lock would NOT FIT around the Bongo block on my LP Fiberglass Bongos. Either the cam bolt isn't long enough or the strap isn't long enough, but in any case it won't work. According to the LP Percussion tech that I talked to on the phone, he believes (wasn't 100% sure) that the LP Aspire bongos have a smaller wood block and that the more expensive lines of LP Bongos have larger blocks. Seems strange that an LP Bongo mount wasn't designed to work with all of the LP Bongos.....but there ya have it. Even though this mount says nothing about only working with certain types of bongos, be advised that it may not fit around larger wood block spacers. I'm now debating whether or not I want to break out the old sewing machine and try to replace the strap with a longer one.
