Comments about Ludwig Accent Combo 5-piece Drum Set:
I bought my Ludwig Accent set used a year ago. It came with Ludwig stands, Remo Pinstripe batter heads, clear resonator heads and throne. Pulse Cymbals. Pearl Sensitone Snare drum. No Bass Drum Pedal. I am 48, I'm old school. I like the 12", 13" 16" toms. I tune them low. This is a very good set. Is it high end? No. Did they sound great when I got them? NO! They need to be tuned....very carefully, I have Aquarian Rings on all of the Drums. I got tired of messing with the Bass Drum, so I threw a pillow inside it. Once tuned and slightly muted, they sounded great. I've had a few sound guys say, "that was the easiest time I've ever had micing the drums." The snare was the biggest problem I had, but this is about the Accent Kit. Tune your toms carefully, there are countless youtube videos about tuning drums. I'm actually in the market for upgraded hardware and that's all I need to buy. My band plays maybe 3 times a month, sometimes one night a weekend. I've had a screw come loose from the snare stand and i accidently stepped on the tilter from my straight cymbal stand. (It's broke)
I'm going to get Ludwig's Atlas Standard Hardware and Sabian Xs20 cymbals. Buy this set, tune them very carefully and have a blast playing a very good little set. Upgrade the Throne.

Comments about Ludwig Accent Combo 5-piece Drum Set:
Been a "string" musician (piano, guitar, bass) for 40 years. Always liked playing drums on the side. These Ludwigs are perfect for the recreational drummer. Many of the features Ludwig is known for, just cheaper wood & assembled with cheaper labor. Sound is good enough for most jams & small gigs. Just add some mutes & play.
Comments about Ludwig Accent Combo 5-piece Drum Set:
ludwig did well, but definitely could have done better. i've owned this set for i think close to 3 years now, and its been my only one. heard much better and am getting either a ludwig classic, dw performance, or tama starclassic for my 16th in august. only problems i've had - mounting system does not allow toms to go very low, or close together. snare stand - has fallen a few times. throne - very uncomfortable after 30 minutes. hi hat stand - cheep and doesnt function with heavier cymbals. heads - snare head broke in 6 months, high tom broke in 8 and reso heads are crap. i've upgraded pedals, snare drum, heads, and more. i'd look in to spending a couple hundred more dollars for a more intermediate kit - it will save you in the long run, but get someone to help you with it. eg a drum teacher or a friend drummer.
the kit comes with a basic mounting system, bass spurs, a single chain bass pedal, hihat stand, snare stand and throne. of course none of it was high end stuff, but great deal. the throne is less than exceptional, however. it is uncomfortable and unstable. the hihat stand is cheap, and not sturdy at all. the snare stand is fine. it's cheap and unstable but works. bass spurs are ok, mine have came undone a few times. the mounting system is really bad. cant get the small and mid toms very close together, and you have an extra hole in each tom and the bass, with a big tube going into it, reducing resonance a bunch.
quality - nothing special. again. cant go too wrong. they are made out of who knows what, it doesnt state on any websites. just says "wood" haha. they obviously arent high end, they dont resonate very well and the heads are crappy that come with it. get some coated emperors for your toms and they sound pretty good, then resonant ambassadors for the reso side, and a powersonic and powerstroke 3 for your bass. made my bass sound great!
one of the cheepest sets out, and well worth it. definitely a great starter kit, although i might opt for a pearl export if you have a little more money - mounting system is much better.
Comments about Ludwig Accent Combo 5-piece Drum Set:
For the price, this is a pretty good set. Bought it for my grandson who's just starting out on his muscial journey. Hardware isn't so great, but the drums themselves sound good after tuning. Get tone rings for the snare and toms, and put a pillow in the bass drum, and you're good to go.
Hardware is what you'd expect at this price point. I had a spare Tama bass pedal, so I swapped that, and I'll be replacing the hi-hat pedal. Also replaced the snare stand.
Comments about Ludwig Accent Combo 5-piece Drum Set:
Overall I love these drums you need to buy them there is no better deal than Ludwig.
I think these are awsome my parents got me these for christmas and the have not let me down. They go perfect with the Zildgen ZBT cymbls.
The quality is pretty good the throne it came with kinda sucks and the hi-hat stand will sometimes open further while you are opening it and closing it so when you open it make sure the tightner is tight.
I my parents made me muffle the basedrum it was to loud for my house. The heads are pretty bad when you put them on the flor-tom had a rinkle in it so we had my teacher tighten it and definitly tune the heads espicially for the sake of the snare it will buzz if you hit the toms so overall the heads will do well if you treat them well.
Comments about Ludwig Accent Combo 5-piece Drum Set:
I've owned a few sets of drums throughout my life. This is the least amount of money I've ever spent on a set. I bought it for my 10 year old son who has been banging on mine for a few years. I figured I would start him off cheap just to make sure he continued to play and the go from there. The problem is that I find myself playing his Ludwig more than my Pearl. It sounds great and it's fun as heck to play. You can't lose with this set.
The hardware on this is what I wished I had on my pearl export. Very tight and accurate, and has a beautiful finish. Not the cheap wrapping that I was expecting from such a cheaply priced set of drums.
I have read reviews about this set saying that it sounds like crap and that it can't be tuned. I had no problems tuning it. A pillow in the kick drum, some duct tape and paper towels in the toms, and properly tensioned heads will do wonders for any set. But right out of the box, this set sounds great. If you can't get it to sound good, then buy a book or ask a fellow drummer to teach you how to tune your drums because you're screwing something up somewhere!
Like I said, you get more than you pay for with this set. The sound you can get from this set of drums is on par with a set of high end pearls or DDs. Obviousely, it's a bare minimum set, but the point of a starter set is to get what you absolutely need at first and then build on it as you can afford.
Comments about Ludwig Accent Combo 5-piece Drum Set:
I have a 1961 set of club date ludwigdrums which in 1961 were there mid line inprice & bought a set like this 6 mo's ago, They lack the quality & have short cuts on these drum,s no tone controls & they have a ringginsound to them so you will need to make certin adjustments & buy a set of plastic tone rings for themto get a better sound !
I just wanted somthing to rehurse on with my band & I use my old set for shows, I know its hard to find anything thats not made in china but I think Ludwig messed up when they let the chineese make there drums !!!
Comments about Ludwig Accent Combo 5-piece Drum Set:
My main instrument is keyboards/ piano, which I play in a band, but I have filled in a couple times on drums and I have used this set which belongs to the drummer in our band. It sounds great for a low price drum set and it is easy for me to set it up exactly how I like it. I have played a few other drum sets that were around the same price range and this one was by far the best sounding.
It has everything I need in a drum set: bass drum, 2 toms, 1 floor tom, high hat, and crash/ride.
Ludwig Drums are simply the best drums out there. No other brand can compare. Everything in this set seems well built.
Comments about Ludwig Accent Combo 5-piece Drum Set:
One complaint....Make the set with a sturdier drum throne. Other than that...it's a home-freaking-run!
I LOVE Ludwig Drums! I have owned an Accent 5-Piece drumset for going on 3 years now and I have had no complaints from it. It's a rich full tone. The bass drum BOOMS (literally) to life. The hi-hat and cymbal stand have served me well; and The set looks awesome! I cannot be happier. =D
