OVERVIEW

A hi-hat stand from Ludwig that offers optimized 3-point stability and advanced positioning features.

Ludwig's Atlas Pro Hi-Hat stand's state-of-the art features allow it to perform with rock-solid reliance, eliminating annoying movement that interferes with precise play. The patented Centroid 3-point stability system elevates the rear portion of the foundation plate to create a tripod with the heavy, double-braced legs. Additionally, the Aerodisc bottom cymbal tilter provides flexibility for the drummer to position the bottom cymbal at any level. Throw in the infinite possibilities for the footboard then a bevy of anchoring features, and a new approach to playing stability has arrived.

Comments about Ludwig Atlas Pro Hi-Hat Stand:

Let me preface this review as saying I recently purchased the Ludwig Pillar Clutch snare stand and it is a beast. Best snare stand I've used to date. Now on to this product...I write this to warn not only the consumer but the retailer whom inevitably will be stuck with these broken stands. This stand is well thought out and the engineers did their homework as it is the most stable two legger on the market. 8th note stomping and she doesn't budge. However as my tech pointed out to me, the footboard height adjustment is a cheap aluminum casting that snapped in half after 2, that's right TWO gigs. This heavy duty stand and cheap parts? They cut corners in manufacturing and I paid the price. Luckily, he had my back up DW 9000 on the trailer or I would have been forced to play our final set hi hatless. The issue is the 3 point stability system that makes it rock solid is the same thing that will eventually break the stand, especially if you like to step down on your hats tight for funk and linear stuff like I do. The casting simply couldn't not withstand my foot pressure and snapped in half, rendering it useless. On all other legged stands, the base plate is on the floor, thus allowing the ground surface to stop the momentum or inertia of your foot pressure. I've NEVER crack a hi hat cymbal yet I broke this stand in a matter of hours. Was never as smooth as the DW but I liked the stability feature. Too bad they didn't use better materials and machining...it could have been a nice stand. I contacted Ludwig after returning to the retailer with a supplied pic of the broken part as a "heads up". No response. Stay away and save yourself the headache. The other big boy companies won't let you down. Stay away from this stand.
