Comments about Ludwig Element Birch Fusion 6-Piece Shell Pack:
Picked up a used set a few months ago. Replaced all the tom heads with Remo Emperors and the bass with the Emad 2 and added Aquarius Studio Rings.Snare got a Diplomat top/bottom. Took a few hours to tune them and they sound GREAT.They feel sturdy. The finish is top notch. I have been a Tama guy for years but these Ludwigs are very good. For the money you cannot go wrong!

Comments about Ludwig Element Birch Fusion 6-Piece Shell Pack:
I got the Charcoal Fade shells and they are just absolutely beautiful. The birch shells have a very warm sound, exactly the same quality of sound as on drums costing much more. A prior review mentioned quality of the heads, but I did not find the heads to be lacking - some careful tuning produces a good sound from the heads. The attention to detail in packaging was outstanding - not a scratch on anything when it arrived. The primary weakness was the snare drum. The snares were cheap and one of the snares broke shortly after setting up. I'm replacing the snares with a better quality string, so hopefully that will help. The snare throw-off is also of average quality at best. But, overall, a beautiful, great sound, sturdy, fun set to play on and own.
Comments about Ludwig Element Birch Fusion 6-Piece Shell Pack:
All in all, these are really great drums if you're looking for something that sounds good but isn't too hard-hitting on the wallet.
The suspension mounts really make a difference. You won't find those on most other kits at this level.
The birch shells are really good. The high toms and snare crack and the bass drum is very VERY deep. use 'em with the right heads (go with Evans) and tune 'em right and you will not be disappointed. I've owned these drums for years and they are perfect for the aspiring drummer. This is a must-have for any new drummer. Buy them now because you will not regret it.
Best value drums I've ever seen.
