It is all in the name.
The 5-piece Ludwig Epic power drum shell pack comes with a free 10" x 7" tom. It fuses the bright, cutting tone of birch with the warmer qualities of maple, producing a wet, powerful sound that is at home in high-volume situations. The Epic's ultrathin 6-ply shell vibrates at a more even rate, sculpting a rich, vibrant balance between subtlety and sonic punishment. Accented by the classic keystone lugs and vintage bronze rims, the Epic Series has truly found a home in the Ludwig Legacy. Cymbals and hardware sold separately.

Comments about Ludwig Epic 6-Piece Power Shell Pack with Vintage Bronze Rims & Lugs:
I'm new to the drums, but wanted to put together a kit I could play for years without regret. Mission accomplished. I love these drums.
Putting everything together on arrival was challenging, though, without any instructions. I'm assuming that the industry assumption is that drummers already know how to do things like put drum heads on a bass drum and tune them, or even how to mount toms onto the bass drum using the provided clamps. These were all things easily remedied by turning to youtube, but it could have been much much easier. If you are new to the drums, assume you'll need to spend some time figuring things out.
The other big thing for first time drum buyers to be aware of, is that when you look through the acoustic drum sets, in most instances, the set does not include everything you will need for a complete kit unless it is filed under "complete drum sets". Shell packs like the Ludwig Epics that I purchased basically just come with the drum shells, heads and clamps. These will need to be supplemented with snare and cymbal stands, bass drum and hi-hat pedals, and cymbals (most manufacturers offer packs at least containing hi-hats, crash and ride cymbals). Cymbals, I found, are surprisingly expensive if you want anything of quality.
If you are at all unsure about what you will need for a complete kit, or what your set will contain, I'd recommend that you call Mask. I did and the rep I talked with was very helpful, knowledgeable about the products and didn't push me to buy anything I didn't need. Awesome.
Nice to have the extra tom, with the six piece set. Didn't come with stands, pedals or cymbals.
This is one beautiful set of drums.
Feels very solid for a shell kit in this price range.
