I've used this throne for many years, and in fact I own one for each of my four main drum kits. Its best feature is the adjustable, removable backrest, something lacking in too many thrones (including Ludwig's otherwise great new Atlas line). As kids we thought the backrest was for "old guys"--though it wasn't too embarrassing for the hyperkinetic Stewart Copeland, whose Police backrest looked homemade. But this feature is essential for good posture, a problem area for almost any drummer. Ludwig's comfortable but compact saddle seat travels in a 10" x 14" tom bag, upside down atop my 4", 6.5", or 8" snare drum (an acceptable arrangement for local gigs without roadies, but not for touring). I recommend this throne to any musician.

Comments about Ludwig LM449THB Modular Drum Throne with Back:

I bought this drum throne for my son who has lower back problems and he says the back support has been really helpful and allows him to play longer. Also, the shape of the seat makes for more freedom with leg movement. Over all he seems quite happy, and if he's happy then I am happy!

Comments about Ludwig LM449THB Modular Drum Throne with Back:

really nice! solid structure, padding just right, good support & flexible, well-made,
          good-looking.
i use it for keyboard (& other instruments) playing.
could use an adjustment for the lombar support angle.
          no instructions.

          So much better

          By Bryan Peretto

          from New England

Comments about Ludwig LM449THB Modular Drum Throne with Back:

After practice or a long show, my lower back would absolutely kill me when I was using a back-less throne. I'm so happy I switched to this product! I can play all night without back pain.
As others stated, could use better adjustments, but it works fine for me.
Well built and sturdy, but after a few months, developed some minor squeaks. No one has noticed but me.
For what it is, it really is expensive. But it's worth it.

          Backrest Mod

          By SixSnare

Comments about Ludwig LM449THB Modular Drum Throne with Back:

This is a good throne if you have some metalworking skills. Out of the box it is almost useless. The backrest comes nowhere near your back unless you lean WAAAY back - pointless. I put mine in a vise and did some careful bending and got the backrest to where it fits snugly in my lower back when I sit up straight. If you are not comfortable with mechanical projects I would not buy this throne. My seat was also slightly tilted and I saw another one at a show recently that had the same problem, but it's great if you can modify stuff. I love mine now.

Comments about Ludwig LM449THB Modular Drum Throne with Back:

My son and I purchased this throne about a year ago and I was skeptical about a throne with a back. I love the support it gives to my fifty year old back and my son (16 yrs old) is very satisfied. We recommend this throne highly to all!

          I Like!

Comments about Ludwig LM449THB Modular Drum Throne with Back:

Throne looks nice, feels good, I would have given the features a 10 if the back had more adjustment, I took my back off and put it on the floor with about 220 lbs of force and bent the back forward a little which took care of the adjustment problem, I do really like this throne though, I just made it to fit me a little better, It's worth the money.

Great buy! Very comfortable, very stable. I only miss an angle adjustment on the back rest... But its still an excellent choice for those who play lots of hours straight.
