These shells are awesome, w/ a killer kick drum sound. made for Ludwig by Gold n Times, the quality is tops. This is my 3rd vistalite kit, plan on keeping them.....
I was very surprised and dissapointed when I found out these are the same shells used by drum companies that charge a lot less. I guess you pay for the name. At my local drum shop they had these vistalites which I had recently purchased and a full set of ddrum acrylics. The exact same shells and I could have gotten 2 more drums for the price I paid for my 3 piece shell pack. Mostly my fault for not researching. But so you know the shells are the same for Pork pie, Ludwig,Tama, older ddrums (the new ones are made in Germany by the company that makes them for sonor and Peace). That said they are awesome sounding and looking.
C'mon, Ludwig. Give us some bigger kick drums. Great reissues but need some variety with bass drum sizes. Be seen, be heard, remember?
As the owner of a 70's set of Ludwig Vistalites I was eager to check out the re-issue models. The sound is more resonant than my old set and definately as loud as the originals! The quality is much better than 30+ years ago. They will never have the rich tone of a wood drum, but they have a look that is second to none.
These drums are the beat drums I ever played. The sound and quality is amazing. Loud and gig worthy. But I thought it should have came with hardware or something. But who cares. These are great sounding drums.
