Shatters the conception of what features an entry-level kit can have.

    This Mapex Horizon HX 5-Piece Drum Set includes a 22" x 18" kick drum, 10" x 8" and 12" x 9" rack toms, 16" x 16" floor tom, 14" x 5-1/2" snare drum, and a free 8" x 7" tom. It also includes a snare stand, hi-hat stand, boom and straight cymbal stands, and P500 pedal.

The birch/basswood shell produces rich tones with remarkable sustain. The tone is further enhanced by the redesigned Mapex Isolated Tom Holder System (ITS). This compact and lightweight system keeps the mounting hardware off of the shell allowing it to vibrate more freely. The restyled tom holder now includes a convenient spot for an auxiliary cymbal placement. The Horizon HX is available in several covered finishes. The hardware is newly designed Mapex 500 Series hardware.

Mapex 500 Series Drum Hardware Package Includes a B500 Boom Cymbal Stand, C500 Cymbal Stand, H500 Hi Hat Stand, S500 Snare Drum Stand, and a P500 Single Bass Drum Pedal.

Strong, durable, and flexible, the Mapex 500 series drum hardware package provides unmatched stability and features that you would usually only find in stands that cost much more. All Mapex stands feature die-cast memory locks for security and easy setup, slip-proof nylon inner sleeves for rattle-free playing, and heavy-duty skid resistant rubber feet for stability.

Upgrade your hardware with this functional durable Mapex stand.

    C500 Cymbal Stand
The durable Mapex C500 cymbal stand performs night after night. A double braced stand with adjustments allows you to position your cymbals at the perfect playing angle. Whether you are upgrading or purchasing your first kit, the Mapex C500 cymbal stand will meet your needs for performance or recording.

    H500 Hi Hat Stand
The double braced Mapex H500 hi hat stand features a direct-pull chain drive with adjustable tension clutch and memory lock. Sturdy construction, superior control, and maximum flexibility plus durable chrome steel tubing provides a strong and attractive framework for the most durable hi-hat stand you may ever play.

    S500 Snare Drum Stand
The strong, durable Mapex S500 snare drum stand features steel tube construction which securely holds your most used drum. The Mapex S500 snare stand allows precise positioning and stable balance of your snare drum, while allowing the drum to resonate freely. Additional features are an adjustable slip-proof nylon inner sleeve, 18-tooth ratchet gear snare basket tilter, double-braced legs, and non-skid rubber feet. The Mapex S500 snare stand delivers years of service and yet remains very affordable.

    P500 Single Bass Drum Pedal
The Mapex P500 kick pedal is engineered to be reliable, durable, and, most importantly, playable. Adjustments are made quickly and easily, plus the solid steel components keep you going during your performances night after night. Comments about Mapex Horizon HX 5-Piece Drum Set w/ Free 8x7 tom:

Great kit, especially for the price. If you need a DW sound, keep looking. However, if you are in the market a good sounding drum set that you can perform with, practice on, and have a great time, this is the kit for you. I recommend replacing the heads, but that is pretty much a given with all drums these days. Toms are awesome, bass drum kicks hard. Snare is good, not great.

Solid construction. Hardware is top notch. Bass drum pedals and hi hat stands are very functional, but I upgraded soon after purchasing.

The cymbals are trash. They are literally worthless, I tried to sell them to a music store and pawn shop and was turned away from both. If you need something to bang on, they will do, but I would NOT recommend playing a concert with them. I have had this kit for 5 years. It was my first drum set. I have slowly upgraded it over the years, but even when I go to a music store and jam on the kit just like it comes out of the box, I am blown away by the sound and the quality. you won't be disappointed.

Also, I think the other reviewer meant to give this a 5 star review. So don't get scared off by the star points.
