Mapex

Mapex introduces another bird of prey.

The Mapex Raptor Direct Drive Pedal has all of the power, stability, and security you would expect from a direct drive pedal, but has the feel that you can only get from a chain pedal.

In addition to the unique design of the Direct Driver linkage, Mapex has included some of the advanced technology found on the Mapex Falcon pedal such as a smaller pedal footprint, a torque-free spring mechanism, and the unique Falcon beater with interchangeable weighted inserts. This combined formula results in a pedal with incredible flexibility and a feel that's unbelievably responsive and fluid.

Like the Falcon the Raptor has the tension spring mechanism suspended to minimize resistance. The beater angles are independently adjustable.

Play it and you'll understand immediately why the Mapex Raptor is the only pedal with direct drive appeal and a chain drive feel.

Linkage broke after few months

By Robert Gayo

from Undisclosed

Comments about Mapex P900D Raptor Direct Drive Single Pedal:

I guarantee you will be returning this product.
The adjustment that allows you to pull the beater closer to your leg or push it closer to the bass head slips after some use. So basically you have to constantly adjust this.

The link had holds the drive to the bottom of the pedal broke. This is because there was no lock pin to increase the leverage at that pivot point.

I returned mine to the drum shop a 2weeks ago. While I was in the store chatting with the guys someone brought in the exact same model with the exact same problem. Broken Linkage at the toe.

In fact there were a total of 4 of these pedals in the stock room of the music shop awaiting returns and all for the same problem.

review of this great Mapex raptor

Comments about Mapex P900D Raptor Direct Drive Single Pedal:

I love this pedal and especialy since I didn;t pay over 200 for a pedal that is driect drive. I own a Yamaha FLying dragon direct and this is very comparable in the smooth feel, with great sesitivity and power. The spring mechanism can be stronger than on my Yamaha which I have tightened all the way, this one I have almost at its lowest and feels great!!!!!!!!! Very smooth no nonsense direct drive. I like it better than the Demon and Axis for sure, but I also preferred my Yamaha to those as well. I guess it is taste, but considering the price and the quality here, this is an absolutel winner!
Feature have to give it a 9, as it has most of the features you expect in a great pedal, adjustable beater angle, solid beater clamps and of course it has a great direct drive mechanism that feels just amazing. I like the heavy duty strong spring on this one. Comes with bag, not case, but I like that as it is not clunky and heavy. It is made to fit the double pedal so I ahve some extra room for other percussion pieces, like bells etc... Heavy weight pedal board that is very well made and nice and long. Very solid. If I had any gripes, it would be I would like some rubber pieces around the hop clamp and something rubber or hard plastic below the hoop clamp screw piece as it goes right into the metal base and is not tempered by something to protect the metal. Otherwise, nothing else, this pedal RULES for this deal!
The quality if very very solid and for this price it certainly deserves a 10. owned one for a few months of daily playing and it looks like new, stainless footboard and very solid parts.
Cant be beat for this price point, certainly comparable to those costing close to twice as much or more.
