Can't get away from this snare

By rob2sticks

I have many snares that I love to play (Ludwig supraphonic, Slingerland Artist, Slingerland Krupa, Yamaha Musashi, 5.5" Black Panther) but I CANNOT bring myself to play out with anything but this snare! It's amazing, versatile, warm, responsive, etc. The price is a little prohibitive but I picked mine up cheap at a music store closing sale.

Best snare i've played.

I have played this snare at Church week after week after week for a few years now with my mapex orion kit.. and this is by far one of the best snares I have ever heard. Just the amount of punch and versatlilty that screams out of this snare is amazing. Superb at marching feel beats, amazing with solid rock druming, beautiful jazz feel and the rim shot sound is so tight and full of attack its amazing the differant sounding rim shots you can get from moving the stick a cm shorter or longer when doing rimshots.

Hello, I'm not a collector of drums......I'm a user and explorer . This is an outstanding product......but.If you can describe how fantastic something is, than it is not fantastic at all. !!! I have toured and played Sonor, Brady, Montineri, DW, Yamaha, Sakae, Tama, and many custom made snares........but I have to tell you, that if you appreciate a near perfect snare drum sound, look, and feel ...... than try to find one of these!!!!!! Best

Killer Snare

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I've always wanted a maple snare after years of playing a brass one. This snare is unreal! The birdseye maple shell is as good looking as it sounds. The black chrome hardware is the nicest i've seen. Tuned high, it has an ear splitting crack. Tuned low, it has a beautiful fat sound. I would love to have the kit that matches this snare, and will, very soon.

Mapex Black Panther 6.5x14

By skankindrummer07

this snare is great the response i get from it is awesome for many styles. not to mention its sharp looks. its great i have used it as a kit snare and as a concert snare and either way it sounds great. personally i like tuning it on the higher side because the ringing sound produced with stings just cuts through everything. this is a great buy!

Awesome Snare!

First off, I must say that this a beautiful drum. The finish of the drum is breathtaking, and the black chrome hardware is nice, too. I put an evans SD14 Genera on this bad boy and it delivered. It sounds wonderful and can reach a nice volume, which is great in a band with three watt-happy guitarists. It can easily stand up to some much pricier drums, and is certainly a great buy.

BLACK PHANTER CHERRY 6X13

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I was in between this one an the walnut one, but this last one had a boomie sound at the end of the crack that didn't get me. The cherry one instead is well balanced, not too high or too low, tuned high it can really crack loud and tuned low has a good fat sound due to its 6" depth. But tuned just in the middle has a rich creamy woody tone that you can't get enough of it. A truly pro snare

B P snares are incredible

I love the tone.. and the sensitivity :) it can sound dark and thunderous, when tuned down; or pristine and elegant, while high. It makes my tama rockstar custom kit sound like toys. This is my favorite snare that I have recorded w in the studio. Love it!

very versatile

By Crane Song

from PA

I play covers & originals.. and it can do pretty much anything.. (the 6.5x14)superb in the studio w a wide tuning sweet spot.It has the right combination of sensitivity and power for me. It allows me to relax and let it do the projecting. However, my drum only sounds good w Aquarian's and Remo's.. figured I'd put that out there.

This has been a awsome snare for me. Never been a fan of Mapex but I got this at least 3 yrs ago. I've loved it and I use it all the time. Studio recording, home recording and shows. Quality construction, quality hoop and hardware. not quite a deep a sound as some would like but I get a real nice crack and a real pro sound; and it looks cool.

Best Snare Ever Owned !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been playing drums for over 30 years. I have played all top of the line set's made by Ludwig , Tama , Pearl , Sligerland , Rodgers , Yamaha & Gretch . I currently play a Tama Starclassic set with every size tom made. ( But ) I use my Mapex Birdseye Maple 6 1/2 " x 14 " Black plated snare, As my primary snare of attack. It not only looks great, but sounds even better. All my other snares have not compared to this one. If your serious about your snare sound and response. This is a must for your drum Arsenal. My bass player tells me to stop playing it so loud. We play Iron Maiden, Rush & more. So just imagine how loud this snare is. I use my Tama 100% Birch snare as my bach up now.. No kidding ( get this snare now !!! ) Keith David

I've owned and played a lot of snares, and this one tops the list. Perfect blend of crack, depth, and volume (I bought the 6.5"). And not only does it sound incredible live, but mic placement, overall sound, and "mix-sitting" is effortless with this drum. Highly recommended for ALL applications.

First of all, the flat black birdseye maple finish with the black hardware is absolutely gorgeous!!! I put an Aquarian Super 2 coated head on this black beauty, tuned it and fell in love. I can't wait to hit the road with this fine instrument.
