I put a Evans HD DRY and it was over. This snare gives a great crack. That great gospel rim shot. I love it. Gave me what I wanted. Very affordable too.

        I REP ATL!!

        Steel Piccolo Snare Drum

Comments about Mapex Steel Piccolo Snare Drum:

Had to modify as it has no internal muffler adjustment. In stead I installed both on the batter and snare head to control sensitivity. Hard to beat at such a fantastic price. Hardware looks good.

Comments about Mapex Steel Piccolo Snare Drum:

I would save money to get a pearl piccolo snare. This is a good snare but it sounds low quality. Well duh, you get what you paid. So if you're just looking to get a snare within a price range this will do, but if you're specifically looking for a good piccolo, spend a little bit more and get a higher quality snare.

I play in a Ska and Reggae band and this snare is perfect. I have many other snares and all of them cost much more but this has the high pitch and crack I was looking for.

I have yet to use it with the band, but will soon. I like the sound it has given so far. It's cheap insurance if I have as a JIC in the box.

Comments about Mapex Steel Piccolo Snare Drum:

This seems very well made, for the price. It's sensitive, but the snares aren't super sensitive near the rims, but I am comparing it to a brass, made in Japan, Yamaha, and a late 1960's Slingerland Super Sound King, with parallel strainers. But overall, it sounds great. I would recommend Moon Gel dampeners, for the reverb.
