- Great Sound
Great for the price. This was my first drum set, took me a little while to tune it, but now it sounds great, the cymbals will be good for a beginner, but need to be upgraded whenever you have the money, the crash sounds trashy(i like that) the crash/ride is okay, not as good as I was expecting. I recommend this for beginners.

- Gigging And Jamming
My first real drum set. Took me a week to tune it but once I got it right it sounded pretty great. Ive just been playing for about a year and my first kit sounded like cardboard. Playing this kit all tuned up was a real treat. The hardware is very heavy duty. all the stands feel like they were built to last. The toms sounds very deep and resonant. Great sustain and tone. Miles ahead of some of the cheap Chinese/Taiwanese drum sets in the same range I had the option of buying. Definitely a kit Im going to gig and jam with for a couple of years or at least until I feel the need to upgrade to a $1000+ drum set. I cant wait to get some g2 coated heads on this kit which I expect would make this set sound even better. The snare drum on this kit is my favourite. Loud, cuts through, and sounds rude as hell when not tuned and I kinda dig that sound for now. Bass drum sounds great too. The self muffling head is handy. I still haven't stuffed a pillow into the bass drum and can use it without worrying about too much ringing. The new mapex logo looks pretty sweet on this kit too. The only complaint I have are the stock cymbals. The hit hat is pretty usable and sounds decent but the crash-ride cymbal it came with is absolutely atrocious. If I use it as a ride it is USABLE but hit too hard and you'll be sorry. The cymbal is very very loud and has overtones you'd expect from a frying pan. So do yourself a favour and avoid buying this particular cymbal at all costs. Other than that I dont think Id change a thing on this kit. A steal for the price, sounds great and is built very well. Kudos to mapex for coming out with this set.
