The Byzance Brilliant Finish series is handmade in Turkey using B20 bronze alloy. The cymbal's finish is extremely bright due to Meinl's two-step buffing process. The sound has a full mature dark tone that is good for almost any style of modern music.

Comments about Meinl Byzance Splash Cymbal:
After attending a drum clinic last year by the amazing (and down-to-earth) Chris Adler, I became obsessed with his cymbals--this one in particular. I am by no means a frequent high-end cymbal buyer, but the 8" (which is the exact cymbal Chris uses) is perfectly affordable, so I figured if I was going to splurge, this would be the cymbal to do it on.
Riding quarter notes on this splash sounds miraculous right out of the box: explosive attack, nimble decay, somehow perfect balance of dark and bright tone. I needed the precise splash sound that is heard on LoG's releases, and that's what I got.
Big half-note breakdowns on the splash seem to be getting more popular all the time in metal, especially deathcore. This is perfect for it, and it withstands a pounding. Not only that, when hit lightly, it creates a perfect splashy accent which is so crucial to more progressive metal and even genres like jazz and light rock.
If, like me, you plan on making a good splash a key component of your kit, then don't hesitate in spending the extra to splurge on a fantastic splash like this. It may be more than you intended to spend on a splash, but it is absolutely worth it.
