From the cradle of modern cymbal making, Byzance cymbals are hand hammered to satisfy the highest demands.

The Meinl 22” Sand Crash-Ride is a very unique cymbal; the combination of the unique hand-hammered patterns, the sandblasted surface, and the lightweight creates a roaring sound with lots of low end. Three rivets round out that special cymbal with an overall dark, earthy and almost mysterious sonic character.

Hand-hammered artwork with a sound all its own. Add it to your mix today!

Comments about Meinl Byzance Vintage Series Benny Greb Sand Crash-Ride Cymbal:

When I took this cymbal out of the box, its appearance struck me as really beautiful. Then I played it and really fell in love with it. I was looking for a very responsive, large, flexy(this thing is very thin) cymbal, and it was beyond what I expected. It is a crash ride, and not stiff at all, it almost bounces back at you(is it just me or is that satisfying?). It goes with you if you hit it hard, but at low volumes the sizzles really come out, and it shows its gentle side. The bell cuts and is really bright, but when crashing this cymbal the sound tends to be darker. One of my favorite things to do with this cymbal is make a crescendo roll on the snare, whack the cymbal, and go into jazz time. The sound of this ride reminds me of a ride like Art Blakey would use. It rides quite well in my opinion, and makes a transition from its main musical sides( crashing or riding) quick enough to not be worried about "going too far," or "going too low" with the volume.

Comments about Meinl Byzance Vintage Series Benny Greb Sand Crash-Ride Cymbal:

Awesome! Best cymbal I have ever played. Although it is a large cymbal, it plays pretty light but still offers a full, loud crash. It is a better crash cymbal than ride, so I would not suggest this to someone looking to use this as a primary ride unless you are playing a light Jazz Combo gig or something similar. This was the first cymbal of the Vintage Sand series that I purchased, and I look forward to getting more soon. Buy this cymbal! You will not regret it.

Comments about Meinl Byzance Vintage Series Benny Greb Sand Crash-Ride Cymbal:

with out a doubt the best cymbal out of his collection. Sure the hi-hat and ride are amazing but this cymbal having such a huge diameter sounds amazing as a crash and alternating between the sand ride and this crash/ride also is great. this is my first line of meinl I have really been impressed with. I never thought my paiste signature would be topped but these do.
