Comments about Meinl Floatune Steel Tamborim:

I just received mine today. I also own the wood shell version. Both are very well made. If there's any difference in weight, I can't tell. The shell of the wood version is about 1/4" thick, whereas the shell of the steel version is only about 1/8". Just as I thought, the steel shell is a little brighter sounding and sustains a little longer. It came tuned a little higher than the wood shell, and appears strong enough to crank the tuning pretty tight. It's everything I'd expected and I'm very pleased. I can't comment on durability yet, but it seems very strong and I'm glad because this will become my road drum.

Comments about Meinl Floatune Steel Tamborim:

For big guys should not feel it, but as a piano player, this is a bit heavy instrument to play 2 hours straight
