Comments about Meinl Floatune Wood Tamborim:

I can't comment on durability, as I just received mine yesterday. This tamborim is very well made. No noticeable defects. smooth hardware. hand-rubbed feel to the wood. It's a bit beefy, with the thickish wood shell and floatune system. It could be a bit much for some players but it fits my hand well. I have been practicing pandeiro so weight is not a factor for me. This baby is loud. I can see why Meinl also makes a silent model. You need regular practice with this to stay proficient, otherwise you'll sound sloppy. Overall I'm very happy with my choice. Note: You will also need a striker to get the sound right. MF has a few to choose from. Low cost.

    Very Nice Tamborim

    By Jay Ts

Comments about Meinl Floatune Wood Tamborim:

I cannot compare this tamborim to the models I saw here from LP and Pearl. I have a Brazilian tamborim made by Torelli, which although poorly manufactured, in my opinion," has a more authentic ""samba sound"". On the other hand", the Meinl tamborim sounds a lot nicer to my ears.

I also have a Meinl Floatune tamborim with the ABS plastic shell, and as far as I can tell, there is no difference in sound between that and this model. You won't go wrong with either, so if natural wood is worth the higher price to you, go for it. The rubber wood is really nice, and I love this instrument.
The Floatune system works very well. The tuners operate smoothly, easily," and with precision. Very impressive. They include a Thai penny as a ""tuning key""", or you can use an American penny.
Designed in Germany, and made in Thailand. Overall quality is nearly perfect in every respect. The wood is really nice and feels wonderful to the touch.
