I bought the 8 inch filter about 8 months ago and it's still in perfect working condition. No cracks, no warping, and no bending. The sound is incredible and perfect for accenting. I mean, thats what it's made for right? It is a very thin cymbal so treat it like a thin cymbal. I play death metal and all that fun stuff, but I don't smash the thing. If you want it to last long, play it with care.Buy this and you won't be dissapointed!

I received this cymbal when I bought a cymbal pack. I figured that it would sound like garbage seeing as how it was a "free giveaway," but I was pleasantly surprised. This cymbal had a really trashy, quick sound that it was awesome for accents. I played the cymbacl for about 5 months and through only 2 gigs and noticed a crack forming. I took the cymbal off and inspected it and found that there are at least 4 more hairline cracks forming...and all at the little crimped places at the end of the cymbal. I thought that these spots might turn weak....and I was COMPLETELY right. Very disappointed...not so much in the performance, but because I REALLY liked this cymbals sound.

Comments about Meinl Generation X Filter China Cymbal:
Overall I am very disappointed in this cymbal. I should have just spent the extra money and went with a 10" hand hammered china kang.
The bell of the cymbal is way too small. I bought it to stack on top of a splash but due to the size of the small bell, the cymbals do not even touch eachother.
I also do not like the thickness of the cymbal. It is much thicker than I expected.
There are other brands that make better quality cymbals at mch better prices.
Comments about Meinl Generation X Filter China Cymbal:
I'm not sure why people are saying this cymbal has a hard time cutting though, my only guess is they must be super soft hitters.
I just used this thing at an outdoor show and it had no problem cutting though. I play in a band with 2 drummers and this cymbal was able to cut through the other kit and the guitars with no problem. It has a short attack but is super bright and trashy. This cymbal sounds great. This is my first Meinl cymbal and I'm very impressed.
Comments about Meinl Generation X Filter China Cymbal:
This cymbal sounds cool but is unable to break through if you play heavier music. This is also a very weak cymbal. It took about 6 months before cracks developed around the holes and before long it was in pieces. Like I said it sounds cool, but lasting for as long as it does isn't worth your money. Go with a Zildjian Oriental Trash if you want the same sound but a stronger cymbal.
Comments about Meinl Generation X Filter China Cymbal:
I got this cymbal with a meinl pack about 2 years ago. First off it sounds amazing and is loud enough to cut through both guitarists a bassist and vocalist. Mine has lasted about a year and a half before developing any cracks. I cut them out with some tin snips and it has still lasted six months. Great buy... great value. I have no complaints. And by the way the holes in no way make it weaker.
Comments about Meinl Generation X Filter China Cymbal:
Ive had this cymbal for about 4 years now. Man this cymbal is the most brutal sounding cymbal i own. Ive been slamming on this thing for a long time and i have no problems with it what-so-ever.Anybody who's anybody who plays drum's should really invest in this cymbal.

I got this cymbal about a month ago. This china is beast. It deff. punched through everything. but i noticed it was really thin, and would probably crack... and it did. but it was worth it. i had it long enough to record my bands demo album... myspace.com/ofelsewhere. ϖ. haha. its a great cymbal, but doesn't last long.
Comments about Meinl Generation X Filter China Cymbal:
I have had this cymbal since it came out, however long that has been, and I has been hammered on it like a nail. No cracks or dents. Maybe I'm lucky, and I got one good one, out of a bunch of crap ones. Well I love the sound of this thing, and I could imagine since it is a china it wouldn't sound that different if it did get a crack.Oh did I mention that it is inexpenisve

I bought this cymbal about a month ago and it cracked! It sounded amazing but it was a short life and I don't have money to buy a new cymbals every 4 weeks!
