This is the best possible buy for a ride/crash cymbal. The price is great, the cymbal quality is top notch, and it sounds like a name brand. I've 26 yrs xp in drummin and only buy Name brand cymbals for the obvious quality reasons. I've been playing the same set of zildjans (7 cymbal set)for 16 yrs and I wanted an extra cymbal for my backup drum kit. This is a great buy. Don't pass it up if you are looking for a good sounding ride/crash!!!! I play all types of music in many different bands from speed metal to folk rock and this cymbal sounds great with them all and have no problem playing live and recording with it.

I've always been impressed by AA Meinl's higher quality lines, and I figured a lower model would help the wallet as well as add a nice sound to my kit. I play mostly punk/hardcore and tend to break crashes pretty regularly, so sheet cymbals are a "good enough" option for me. This is probably the worst cymbal I've ever purchased. It's quiet and has no crash or ride qualities, minus a decent bell that I won't ever use. If you play quieter music I wouldn't even recommend it, as it has no swelling or dynamic quality. I spent 20 smackaroos less on a Zildjian ZBT Rock Crash and don't regret it.

Great!

Comments about Meinl HCS Crash/Ride Cymbal:

This cymbal sounds much more like a ride than a crash. It crashes okay, but if you want a cymbal to crash with, get a true crash. The ride sound is very good though. The bell sounds excellent, and so does the rest. USE NYLON TIPPED STICKS! It will make any ride sound 10x better!

Comments about Meinl HCS Crash/Ride Cymbal:

this is a great crash ride cymbal,me as a drummer i prefer crash rides to regular crashes because of the long sustain and the washy ping, if u are looking for a complete cymbal package, buy this cymbal and the HCS 20" ride and the HCS hi-hats, great cymbals for the people that dont hav parents that get a 20,000 a day salary.

Comments about Meinl HCS Crash/Ride Cymbal:

Got this cymbal today. I thought it was worth a shot for the money. I expected much less. This cymbal is extremly comparable to the Zildgen ZXT crash, much better than the Sabian B8's but the way the bell is smoothed out, it has a nice ping makes it a decent ride, good for a crash too. It looks really nice and is heavy duty (German engineering). This is a tremendous bargin! It is a nice addition to round out your kit. If cash is tight or you just want an additional layer of sound, look no further!

Comments about Meinl HCS Crash/Ride Cymbal:

The title of this cymbal is misleading!! This is definately a ride. Not a crash. It has a low and dark tone and a bright bell. It somewhat sounds like rain, which to me is what a ride should sound like. I got the 18" and couldn't be happier!! Enjoy your new MEINL ride!!

Comments about Meinl HCS Crash/Ride Cymbal:

I bash around playing Classic Rock style, kind of goon-like as far as technical skill goes. I'm not a "touchy-feely" player, and the bands I play in don't require that. The cymbal has a great rock crash sound. Are there better cymbals? Yes, but you'll pay a LOT more. And for the money, these can't be beat. These by far are the best "low priced" cymbals that I've heard. We all have heard the "garbage can lid" types out there, these aren't like that at all. Again, it's a great rock crash for the cabbage. I can't comment yet on the durability since I haven't had them that long. They're worth the chance, I bought 2 18" crashes.

Comments about Meinl HCS Crash/Ride Cymbal:

I have this cymbal, and use it like it should - as a crash/ride. I have to say I love it, but I miss two things that I get with my Paiste PST5s that I don't get here: the pingy and washy feeling of my ride, and the explosive attack from my crash. This beauty tends to blend them that gives a unique sound that I like occasionaly, but in other times, when using it for just one of the 2 purposes in the name, I find that it lacks, but this should be expected from a middle-quality crash ride. Overall, good job Meinl!

Comments about Meinl HCS Crash/Ride Cymbal:

I got this cymbal above the PST3 and the sBr's mainly because of the good reviews I saw here, and the less-than-flattering ones on the PST3 and the horrible Solars (sBr's predecessor). It doesn't quite live up to the rave reviews, but I am a beginner and I don't need A Customs just yet.I got it, and it was pretty nice. The bell was as big as the one on my ride cymbal which I thought was pretty cool. I set it up, etc, then I hit it. It had a nice sustain (which I was worried about - look up Sabian Solars for why). Nice tone and everything. The ride is pretty pingy too, not as washy as I thought it would be.Why'd I only give it a 4, then? This isn't a bad thing but it didn't sound like another of the same cymbal on a video that I watched on Youtube. The one I got was more high-pitched, but I still don't mind.Overall, if you want a decent cymbal that won't break the bank, get this and the Sound Percussion Boom stand (also a great deal btw).

Comments about Meinl HCS Crash/Ride Cymbal:

Dudes and Dudett's, I needed another crash-ride for my Ludwig Accent Kit. Arguably, the Zildgen ZXT's are good all around if your not a pro. I took a chance on this crash-ride from Meinl, not expecting very much. Right out of the package, it looks nice, very traditional brass color, shiney. The bell is nicely rounded and pings just fine. It works well for the crash but not as a primary ride, I prefer my Zilgen "Sweet Ride" for that. Hey, get one before they figure out they're to inexpensive and raise the price, its worth the shipping! Dont just sit there, order one!

This cymbal sounds wonderful It has a great sounding bell. When you ride it, it has great stick definition and a great "ping" and when you crash it, it sounds like a very high quality crash that has just the right amount of ring afterwards. For the average drummer on a budget, this is the cymbal for you.

So its a very good beginner/intermediate cymbal. Great quality sounds great and looks good. If your on a budget or just a lil frugal buy it!
