I HIGHLY reccomend this ride!
It's beautiful! Just a great looking cymbal!
It sounds fantastic! I was skeptical at the price, despite all of the posititve reviews, but this thing showed me up. It sounds amazing, with a great ping, the bell is fantastic, and it has a deep, long sustaining crash that I love and use often. Amazing cymbal!
You can't get a better ride at this price, or for even 100 dollars more! This kicks Zildjian's ZBT line's butt.

I bought the Tama Imperialstar which comes with the Meinl HCS 14 hats, 16 crash, and 20 ride. They're great, but I noticed that the bell had a dent in it. I don't even play it that much; just sometimes hit it when I get bored practicing. It's probably better used as a crash. It serves the purpose well, though, and I don't think I'll be replacing it soon.

This cymbal has a good full tone when ridden at the rim, and working your way into the bell truly brighter tone without getting brassy. Absolutely worth the money.

Comments about Meinl HCS Ride Cymbal:

This came with a Rockstar kit I ordered last year. I was at first really disappointed, but it has grown on me. I concurr that it needs serious muffling to control the plethera of midrange overtones (i prefer a brighter sound in a ride) and it tends to ring out quite a bit. the bell is where this ride really suffers. Bell volume is below average, however the bell's tone is acceptable. I agreee you should mic it. Overall, this ride is a good in-between. it does the job I need it to do, and will serve well as I save for a better one. i plan on using it as an auxillary ride in the future.

Comments about Meinl HCS Ride Cymbal:

I've had this cymbal for about four months now. Cons: Dents easily. If you're a hard hitter like me, you will notice tiny indentions from your sticks within a few days. It also has a sub-par crash sound; this is understandable, though. If you want to crash, get a crash cymbal. This cymbal needs muffling. It has some pretty bad overtones, but I took care of that with a Moongel and a few pieces of duct tape on the bottom.Pros: Great, great, great value. This cymbal is DEFINITELY not the worst cymbal out there. Once you muffle it a bit, like mentioned before, it sounds great. For 70 bucks, you can't go wrong. I found that you get the best sound if you hit your stick right at the base of the bell, which makes it sound really good. When playing live, you'll need a little extra miking on it (it's a little quieter than other rides I've played).Bottom line: muffle, and it sounds great. Best value for a cymbal I've ever seen. Buy it.

After reading the reviews I thought, sure why not give it a shot. I'm sad I did. This thing barely gives off any sound, it sounds like I am playing on tin, the bell, even sounds flat. Very disappointed.

Comments about Meinl HCS Ride Cymbal:

I've been using this cymbal (20") for about three years now, so I'm very comfortable with the ins and outs of it.

It has a very poppy sound, and a rather quiet decay, so that your playing on it will sound rather like a series of pings. Some people like their rides to sound this way, and others prefer more of a swelling sound -- I tend to fall into the latter group, which is why I don't quite LOVE this cymbal, but it does have its strengths.

It cuts through the mix in exactly the right way; its bell has a great sound, if not very resonant; and it is very responsive. You can crash on it very nicely, it handles mallets beautifully, and it sounds much more expensive than it actually is.

Really not too bad for the price. Great bell, nice washy sound. You have to beat the crap out of it if you want to crash on it to get a good sound, though. Very durable and kickes the crap out of Zildjian ZBT rides. Get it.

Comments about Meinl HCS Ride Cymbal:

I had been planning on buying my drum set and cymbals seperately to get the most for my money, but I was given a different set than I wanted, and it came with these cymbals (14HH, 16C, 20R, 10S). I wasnt expecting way too much out of these cymbals, but that ride grew on me in seconds and I've loved it ever since. It has a nice ping, a good amount of wash, and its ringy. If thats not your type of ride, this isnt for you, but I personally love it. Its durable, sounds nice, and when you crash it, it has a deep, dark tone that I love. The bell sounds awesome when hit with the sticks tip rather than the neck. It has a sweet, high pitched ping, but its not as loud as some other rides are. Works perfect for me. This cymbal kicks the living crap out of any Zildjian/Sabian/Paiste for a great price, even their high up lines. I've played A Customs, and I like this better. I completely recommend this to any beginner/intermediate player out there.

It is better as a crash/ ride. Does not have the volume to use as a straight ride. The bell is worthless. You really have to wale on it for it to be useful. I see it having a short lifespan.

Comments about Meinl HCS Ride Cymbal:

This ride was part of my first real cymbal set ever. My Yamaha YD drum set came with some factory Yamaha cymbals that did the trick for a while, but I upgraded to these early on in my playing. I've owned them for about two years now, and they are holding up better than ever.

These cymbals sound great for their price. They have a classic sound to them and they will suit the needs of anyone looking to get a set of cymbals that will work for the first years of their playing.

About this ride specifically: It is a heavier ride. It is thick and the sound won't start blooming on it until you really start going at it. The sound fits the needs of any playing just beginning. It is bright and sounds pretty good.

The sound quality of these cymbals is more than adequate for live performances and practicing. They don't have a lot of dynamic contrast though. You won't be crashing quietly and playing with jazz trios with these cymbals. This is nothing that should impede upon the growth of a starting drummer though. I've played other cymbals that are on the higher end of the spectrum, and these don't come close to the sound quality of those cymbals, but they still sound pretty dang good. You can't beat the price!
