Just a plastic box with a cabinet skin plywood front. I own another Meinl cajon that I truly enjoy and I thought this one "wood" (pardon the pun) be similar. It was on sale with free shipping. I would have returned it, but the return shipping and extra charge for the "free shipping" made it not worth the effort. Spend the extra money and purchase an all wood model.

Did not include the padded seat as advertised...I use it as a seat at my piano and it seems a bit small...found it difficult to adjust the snare sound to one that is crisp. It does the job I need it to do for the moment, but am afraid it will be replaced by something else down the road.

did not come with the padded seat that it was advertised to come with; other than that, i'm very satisfied with this cajon. wish it were bigger though.
