        Comments about Meinl Hi-hat Tambourine:

Fantastic addition to my kit for the price. I love that Meinl fills a seemingly empty niche--a high-quality hit-hat tambourine that you can actually hit in addition to controlling with the pedal; however, I hit hard so the only concern of mine is that the rim may not hold up. The tambourine is constructed well and has held up great for the past month. Plus, the tambourine was so affordable and sounds so good that I wouldn't mind purchasing another one if, in fact, the rum busted.

              Comments about Meinl Hi-hat Tambourine:

I got this tambourine as a surprise gift from my mom and was very pleased with its sound. Unfortunately, this great little upgrade to my kit was not to last. After about a year with this tambourine, one of the brackets holding the ring unexpectedly snapped. I am trying to find a way to fix this problem, but I can't help but be disappointed with the quality of this product compared to its price

              Beware

              By Dane Rectal

              Comments about Meinl Hi-hat Tambourine:

This is my first experience with the Meinl line, and I was expecting a high quality German-made product. When I received my Meinl Hi-hat Tambourine, it was immediately evident that the country of origin was not Germany. I tried it out, and was surprisingly pleased with the sound. The brass jingles really stand out above the rest of the drum set whether striking the tambourine or running the high-hat pedal. The problems arose from striking the "sturdy rubberized striking ring." I was wary of the three point suspension of the ring, so I took it easy. I only play with 7As and I use a pretty light touch at that. Within a week, one of the welds had broken from the striking ring. After three months, the ring had completely separated and was only held on by the rubberized coating which only lasted another week. The mounting thumb-screw also chewed up my Gibraltar hi-hat stand pretty badly, but that may be an issue with a cheap drive shaft on the stand. At any rate, I am not impressed with the quality of this tambourine.
