I have looked around for a Hi-Hat tambourine for a while now, and durability was always my main concern. The Meinl hi-hat tambourine is by far the most durable for its small price. The add says it is mainly designed for only used when opening and closing the hats. Well, I find that it holds up just find when struck too. However, I am not a "hard hitter", and do not ride on it. I only use it for accents, and when opening and closing the hats.

The jingle rods are easily replacable at any hardware store due to the fact that they are simply screws and bolts that hold the jingles on. Other brands have simple welds that once break, they are not fixable unless you have access to a welder. I have used this tambourine for a few months now, and it looks brand new still like the day I got it out of the box!

I would highly recommend the Meinl Hi-Hat tambourine to any drummer who wants an inexpensive addition to there drumset that is both greatly musical and durable.

Well made little tamborine but, isn't very sensative. In fact it is down right flat. If it had maybe one more set of discs it would have been ok. Not bad, just a little disapointed. If you want the big ching sound pay a little more and get the bigger tamborine made for hi hat. I liked the fact it was small and didn't interfere with hi-hat work.

    Comments about Meinl Hi-Hat Tambourine:

Unless you are a HARD HITTER on your Hi-Hat, and just use it when you open or close your hi-hat, it has no sound what so ever, the only way you can get any sound as a tambourine, you have to strike the tambourine directly. Don't waste your money!

    Comments about Meinl Hi-Hat Tambourine:

One thing that surprized me. When I chink my HiHat the tamboorine sound is not very pronounced over the chink of the hihat. Not sure if this because my Zildjian Quick Beats are loader then many hats when chinking. I found I can get a nice tambo sound when I hit the rim or even better if I fully release the pedal and get a quick stop at the top of the hihat through.. Certainly this will add a new technique to my playing. If you want more tambo sound check out Meinls (2) ring option...
Features, well it works. It's simple to use. has a nice tamborine tone.
    Built like a tank
Fair price for a well build tambo

Just received this for Christmas this year and I'm definately impressed! You'd think this tambourine would be flimzy by looking at pictures, but once played I quickly changed my mind! It's very sturdy and a lot higher quality than I originally thought. I'd definately recommend this to anyone looking for a new addition to their kit!

        Comments about Meinl Hi-Hat Tambourine:

So I go to the local music store looking for oneof these. The only one they had was cheap lookingand plastic, which was what I was expecting anyway, then I looked at the price tag expecting to see a $5.00 mark....it was $50.00!! nnnnnnno..After "LOL"ing to myself, I left the store.Later I decided to check MF for the same item.they had one that looked the same and was $15.00,MUCH better price, but I was still expecting a cheap, flimsy thing.... turns out, not so flimsy! It's made of good quality metal and the jinglessound bright clean. It was the perfect additionto my set! Get one, you'll not be disapointed.

I saw this tambourine being used by Chris "Daddy" Dave and that alone was reason enough to buy it and use it religiously. The sound is extremely versatile in tone, volume, and use. I really don't need to go into much more detail other than Chris Dave using them... Amazing product for hip-hop, fusion, funk, and any other type of music.

Unobtrusive. Small with a great sound. Only sounds when you hit the HH pedal a particular way, which I like because I don't have to worry about removing it when I don't want the tambourine sound.

I put it on my hihat and it kept knocking my hihat loose, then the screw broke, all in the first day. I finally gave up and turned it to were the bar is not near my hihat screw. It barely makes any noise.

I play in a very contemporary worship band and this adds a new sound to some of the softer music we play. Not overbearing like a light stick on a hi-hat or cymbal.

Bought this for a different sound for my hi hat. I read that it was poorly made but found it wasn't bad. I can see some saying that it broke right away but they must be playing the tambourine itself. I just play the hi hat the normal way and get a nice sound out of it.

It's a little smaller than I was expecting, but that was my own fault for not paying attention to dimensions. It gets the job done but works better when you tap it with stick than when you use high hat pedal.
