Comments about Meinl MB20 Heavy Crash:
I use the 17" as a hi-hat bottom (with a byzance thin crash at the top. All I can say is wow. it makes a great bottom. I've used it as a crash too, and as great as a hat that it makes, it makes a better crash.
Comments about Meinl MB20 Heavy Crash:
I own the 16" and 20" Mb20 heavy crashes and they're incredible. Great bright cut, and phenomenally loud. The sustain isn't so short that the cymbal just fades away without making an impact, but it's short so that they don't just sit their lingering in the mix before the next hit. Also for heavy crashes they have surprisingly dark tones going on under the crushing brightness - you can really hear a lot of complexity in the 20". The 20" crash makes a great studio alternative to a crash-ride as source of constant wash in heavier music. Very nice cymbals. Very expensive, but if you've got the cash then you'll love these crashes.
Comments about Meinl MB20 Heavy Crash:
IF YOU PLAY ROCK, YOU NEED THIS CYMBAL! I have played Zildjian K Customs, A Customs, Z Customs, Sabian AAX, and so on... and these cymbals blow them out of the water.. They are heavy but project just like a medium thin crash. PLEASE READ: Meinl has a 1 year warranty on all percussion products, HOWEVER, their cymbals have a 2 year warranty. Zildjian and Sabian have 1. They back their stuff up, and they sound amazing. Well worth the money. 17, 18, 19 in. are what I have, and I'll be playing them for a long long time.
Comments about Meinl MB20 Heavy Crash:
I bought the 20" Crash less than a year ago and love it besides the fact that it has a huge crack in the center of the cymbal. Maybe a hammer fell on it or something...Before It was broken, I would say this is the best crash I've ever owned/played for my style without a doubt. I use it sided with an A custom 20" Medium Crash. They sound very good together. This cymbal almost reminds me of an A custom mixed with some sabian flavor. Why did it have to break on me ;( I gotta buy a new crash before my next gigs, but that wont happen.I defiantly love this cymbal series. Go for it if you got the money. It's just a little more than A Customs in price. Mb 20's are my favorite series of cymbals out. The Mb 20 Rock China is also really nice if you want to spend money on a good china.
