OVERVIEW

With technically advanced lathing and an improved bell design.

The Meinl MCS Cymbal Pack with Free Filter China features cymbals expertly developed with new designs. The Meinl MCS cymbals have been precisely hammered to produce ideal resonance. A deep lathing groove has been formed to reduce the weight and thickness of the cymbals. As a result, these cymbals have a clearer sound and far greater response. This set of cymbals is formed from the B8 alloy which is comprised of 92% copper and 8% tin with some traces of silver. It includes 14 medium hi-hats, a 16 medium crash, and a 20 medium ride. Additionally, a free Filter China is included. This cymbal has a fast, menacing sound that is quieter than most China cymbals. It offers a bold sound with a short sustain. With the recent innovations contributed to the Meinl MCS Cymbal Pack, these cymbals are the best value to add exciting tones to your drum set.

Overall these cymbals are very well built with a dirt cheap price. These make good cymbals for beginners and more experienced players. I highly recommend this to any person looking for great cymbals for a low price. These cymbals are also very universal in music styles. You can play the hardcore drumming of metal to the soft sounds of jazz.
These cymbals have great features. The bells on all the cymbals are clean and bright. These definitely beat most sabian and zildjian cymbals.
These cymbals sound a lot better than the price. I felt worried buying these cymbals at first because they were so cheap. Honestly these are the best cymbals I have ever played on. The only thing that could have been improved is the ride. The ride had a great tone and pitch, but it was not as clear sounding as I wished. Overall these are exellent cymbals.
The value is the best money can buy. You get a very great sounding cymbal set These are worth at least
$200 more than what you pay for them.

Well I know I could(should) have spent a lot more money. I'll say this, the ride is pretty good, the hats--definitely geared to hard rock/metal sound. The crash WAS satisfactory. Bought them in 9/2013, today(12/2013) the crash has lost all resonance and sounds awful. Contacted Meinl warranty and this is not a warranty condition according to Garrett Davidson of Meinl. So, in comparison to the cheapest Zildjian these sound slightly better, because the cheap Zildjian sound like trash. I am bummed that the cymbal failed so quickly and with surprising little use--my drummer doens't exacting smash them like some folks do either. Not impressed guys and gals.

Great Set, With Great Cymbals

By NateC

Comments about Meinl MCS Cymbal Pack with Free Filter China:

I have been seriously playing drums for about 4 years now, and it's literally all I do, so I wanted some nice cymbals for my new Ludwig set. I got these for Christmas and I am very impressed. Crash: Very fast, cutting sound. Good overall crash.Ride:Ok, kinda pingy, but it does It's job. Probably my least favorite, but it's still a good cymbal.Filter China: Very interesting, and sizzling sound. GREAT for fill accents. Would not ride on it though, since it's quite thin, and the bumpy edges mess up your sticks. But not horribly bad.Hi-Hats:Overall the best part. My music style doesn't make much use of hi-hats but these are stellar. Nice chick, bit of good wash when played open, but not over-bearing, annoying wash.As I said, amazing cymbal set. Meinl has sold me, I'm sticking with them.

not bad at all!!!

Comments about Meinl MCS Cymbal Pack with Free Filter China:

I bought these cymbals based on the reviews on this website, overall these are very nice for the price. The hats sound good open, but closed they sound like a tin can or something. The 16 inch the "worst" one of them all but still not to bad. Two thumbs up for the 20 inch ride, now the filter china is very interesting. Its very crashy sounding with a bit of sizzle but not explosive in anyway, I like to crash on it more than the 16 inch.Overall I would recommend these for any poor drummers out there

Comments about Meinl MCS Cymbal Pack with Free Filter China:

I recently bought these at my local music store to replace some B8's that got dented in. I was kind of skeptical because I've never tried Meinl - the worker offered either Paiste PST-5's, or Meinl MCS with a free Classics China. I chose the MCS just because it had the free China, got home, and was blown away! I know new cymbals don't really sound the best but these sounded amazing out of the box. The ride has a great ping, bell is sharp - Crash is explosive, nice ping and bell as well... good for cymbal rolls - and the hi-hats have nice chick. I strongly recommend this to anyone who is starting out drumming, because these widely beat the Sabian B8's, Zildjian ZBT's, and Paiste 201's.

Comments about Meinl MCS Cymbal Pack with Free Filter China:

If your a beginner I highly reccomend these, I had these when I was first starting out and they met my expectaions, especially the Thomas Lang Filter china (which I still use). The only thing I didnt like about these cymbals were the Hi-Hats, they didnt sound as quality. Ive moved up from all these cymbals straight to the Byzance Brilliant (which I also Highly reccomend) !

Comments about Meinl MCS Cymbal Pack with Free Filter China:

These are a great deal for the price, as other reviews have said. But, they don't compare or sound anything like Sabian AA or XS20. More like 70's era Paiste 505. Or between that and the 2002. So, yea, it's an exceptional deal.

Comments about Meinl MCS Cymbal Pack with Free Filter China:

These cymbals really do sound like more expensive ones. The high hats are not quite my sound, but they will do, the rest are way better than I expected for the price.

Comments about Meinl MCS Cymbal Pack with Free Filter China:

These are Meinl's equivalent of the Sabian B8s and the Zildjian ZBTs, the only difference is these beat the hell out of those. I have played all of them and I ended up going with these. The crash works good as a fast crash, but if you want to play metal where you ride on the crash, I recommend getting a Zildjian K 18". The hats are good, but nothing special really. The ride sounds really nice, better than the Sabian B8 ride, the Meinl ride rings way less. THE CHINA IS SOOOO NICE! Great effects cymbal, and it even works in metal break downs. These cymbals are not as good as Sabian AAs or Zildjian A customs, but for budget cymbals these are the best.

I Love Breakdowns

Comments about Meinl MCS Cymbal Pack with Free Filter China:

This is a great cymbal pack for any drummer, and sounds good in the metal genre. I purchased these cymbals a few days ago and have been extremely impressed. The Ride is loud and cuts through the guitars, the crash has a nice tone and is loud enough to be heard above the rest of the band, and the china cymbal is amazing. The china has an amazing high tone and is the loudest cymbal i own. it easily cuts through the guitars and vocals, and makes any breakdown sound way more Epic and Brutal.

Awesome cymbal pack!

Comments about Meinl MCS Cymbal Pack with Free Filter China:

I actually bought this set from a different website because it was about 40 dollars cheaper. I was extremely nervous about buying it because its not a high end set, and i was on a tight budget. I got them a few days ago and am impressed. My least favorite cymbal is probably the highats. They don't have a very bright sound. They are still ok, but they are a little duller toned, i prefer my tama highats instead. My next favorite is the ride. It has a good ping when hit around the outer part, and has a good crash, but the bell is pretty weak. My 2nd favorite is the crash. It has a great, loud sound. It also has a good bell. My favorite though is defiantly the china (i actually got the 16 in. classics china, not the filter china.) I absolutely LOVE this cymbal. It has a very trashy sound, its extremely loud, and all i really can say is that it is an amazing cymbal.I can't really say much about the lasting quality, considering i just got it, but they are pretty heavy, and seem very sturdy. If you are someone who wants a great quality affordable set, or just want to add more cymbals to your kit, this is defiantly the best buy. Meinl i would say is better than Zildjian because they have way better cheaper priced kits.

Meinl

Comments about Meinl MCS Cymbal Pack with Free Filter China:

I got these cymbals from one of my friends, who was going to be a drummer, but instead he didn't use his set at all, so these cymbals sat in his room forever! It was until recently I decided to play the drums, and I'm pretty good for a beginner, that I got these cymbals. These cymbals go along great with Metal/Hard Rock songs, but as I noticed today I didn't think they were really Death Metal style. I don't know what it is about them, or maybe it's just me being to picky, and liking Sabin AA cymbals, because I have heard them for so long, and that's what 99% Death metal drummers use. These cymbals will be great if you're looking to play hard rock, or just regular metal. But if you're wanting to play Death Metal, I'd advise getting the Sabin AA cymbals. That's what I'm doing. I'm just going to hold onto these when I play hard rock songs. And with all of my Death metal songs I'm going to just use Sabins. These will work for now though, until I can save up enough money for Sabins.

Comments about Meinl MCS Cymbal Pack with Free Filter China:

These were my first set of cymbals, and they have yet to fail me. Meinl's German crafted cymbals have a unique and clear sound in all of their models, and this pack is great for beginner and intermediate players. Be careful of the Generation X China if you are a heavy hitter though, as cracks may begin to form at the holes.

Comments about Meinl MCS Cymbal Pack with Free Filter China:

These are great cymbals for anyone looking to add to their existing set or start from scratch. If you're a hard hitter like myself, you've probably cracked a few expensive cymbals and wanted to die because the warranty had expired. In this case, these cymbals are pretty durable and they sound great. From the first time I played live with them, people were already remarking on how much more they could hear the brightness in the playing. I would recommend to anyone looking for something that can take a beating and last a while at the same time.

The one con, and I could just be biased, but the hi-hats seem a little on the flat side with regard to their shimmer. The ride bell is awesome, but you have to locate the sweet spot or else it is all sour sounds.

That's really it. I love them, and I'd buy it again.

PS - The China cymbal is awesome sounding!
