Comments about Meinl Siam Oak Snare Cajon with White Ash Frontplate:
Although this cajon looks nice and is pretty well constructed it lacked the low end deep tones that I was hoping for. The snares and high end sounds were lacking as well. Probably the last time I will purchase an instrument without actually playing it. Not good enough for true accoustic sessions.
Comments about Meinl Siam Oak Snare Cajon with White Ash Frontplate:
i spent a lot of time researching these drums before i got one, because i really wanted to get the right fit for me. If you are in a small band that records, or just wanna have a blast banging out rhythms, this is a great buy. although i can't play flamenco beats, it produces all the sounds for any country drum kit! : )
i spent a long time trying to find a cajon with the adjustable snares that was in my price range, and this one fit the bill. it has rubber feet on the bottom to keep you from sliding around on the floor. it also has a -thin- foam pad on top that makes playing for a long time tolerable. the snares sometimes vibrate with a "pang" sound when they shouldn't, but nothing a piece of paper wont fix...
the wood is actually a lot better than i thought. the frontplate has a great sound and you can definitely hear the three different basic pitches quite well, along some great sidetones. the bass is pretty good, but could be better. although maybe not for the price. it sounds great on a mic too.
this drum is a great buy. you are geting a lot of drum for a low price. and musicians friend is great.
Comments about Meinl Siam Oak Snare Cajon with White Ash Frontplate:
I was kind of skeptical at first because I hadn't done that much research, but I am very pleased with it. It sounds awesome and the tones are very distinct. It sounds good hooked up to a mic as well. The only problem I have noticed is that when the snares are off, they sometimes jingle a little bit when you are playing. But there are ways to fix that. Other than that, I love it, and i can't wait to play it with some guitar.
Comments about Meinl Siam Oak Snare Cajon with White Ash Frontplate:
This cajon is great for the price. if you are looking for a good cajon and don't want to spend a fortune on it buy this one! it works great with all music styles. the adjustable snare works ok. It could use a little more bass too. But overall it is a great cajon for a great price.
Comments about Meinl Siam Oak Snare Cajon with White Ash Frontplate:
The wood on this cajon is beautiful. It's very nice and high quality. The sound is just what I was looking for: it has a good snap to it when the snares are on. When the snares aren't on, it has very good bass sounds and sounds very nice. The top isn't as cushy as I thought it would be, but it is still better then sitting on bare wood!
Comments about Meinl Siam Oak Snare Cajon with White Ash Frontplate:
This cajon, in my opinion, is the best you can get. The snare wires in it is awesome. you get a very nice snare noise out of it, as well as bass and tom. I would highly reccomend this cajon to anyone. It is worth the money. Especially if you are playing unplugged acoustic gigs. It's awesome.
Comments about Meinl Siam Oak Snare Cajon with White Ash Frontplate:
I was excited by the reviews I had read of this drum and thought that it was going to be a great value. I was especially intrigued by the "adjustable snare" feature. I could tell right away that the adjustable feature didn't work very well but I kept the drum because I had been waiting a long time to buy a cajn. In any case, the drum is attractive, the cushy seat and rubber feet are nice features and it has a good range. The problem is, no matter how you adjust it, the "sizzle" is more of a tinny ring that lingers, making it out of the question for recording. So if you must have a cajn and really can't afford a Schlgwerk or a Fat Conga, go for it- otherwise, the extra money is worth it.
Comments about Meinl Siam Oak Snare Cajon with White Ash Frontplate:
I'd recommend this cajon to anyone! I just got it and didn't ever notice that it had this really cool throw off adjustment that controls between peruvian and flamenco cajon styles. You can turn on or off the snares to get different sounds. the only downfall, it doesn't have much bass, but when miked, it sounds pretty amazing because of the front plate and how it's attached and tuned. The wood is so pretty, I hope I don't get it scratched. I also got one of their cajon bags...pretty wise investment.
Comments about Meinl Siam Oak Snare Cajon with White Ash Frontplate:
This cajon has a deep base sound and can produce a number of different tones. The quality of this Meinl product is outstanding. It is well constructed and beautifully finished. The padded seat and adjustable snare strings add greatly to the value of this product. My only complaint is not with the product, but rather Musiciansfriend's customer service, which was very poor in my experience. This is the first and most likely the last item I will purchase from them.
