I waited several months to get this item on backorder and wow, am I happy with it! I own several kits, hand drums, percussion items, electronic percussion, and so on and this little cajon is a must-have. I currently use it in an acoustic rock setting with a blues/rock group and could easily see using it in the studio as backing percussion for any of my other projects. It's perfect for accompanying acoustic guitar at an open mic or even at a drum circle. The bass tone is tight and focused and the snare is consistent and clean. The cajon seems built to be mic'd and the recordings I've done with it sound fantastic. I added 4 castanets and I often wear foot tambourines, ankle rattles, and finger shot shakers with a foot cabasa on my left for a fuller sound. With some creative percussion added to the cajon, you can do some really great layering, or keep it simple with the bass note, snare and basic tom runs on the tom section. My only gripe is that it doesn't seem to have a bag available! For about a Benjamin, you can't go wrong. Right now, this thing is getting more use than my MUCH more expensive Wavedrum!

    Comments about Meinl Slap-Top Cajon:

This is the first time I have seen such a thing, since I am use to the standard cajon. Performed great, easy to adjust to, and feels just like drumming with my hands on a table top! Great for acoustic sessions, and campfire jams.

      Comments about Meinl Slap-Top Cajon:

Very nice product by Meinl. It has three different sounds-a kick, a snare, and a bongo type sound. Very useful for acoustic gigs. Takes a little bit to figure out what height you need to sit to have feel nice, but after that it feels amazing to play. I would recommend this to anybody.

This unit has very good sound for a small piece. I was pleased with the unit in general BUT, if you are left handed beware. The snare is located for a right handed player and turning it around puts the sound hole facing you. If your playing style is right handed or ambidextrous no worries.

My wife bought me the Slap-Top Cajon after seeing it in a local box store and it is awesome. I enjoy playing it around the house for leisure and hoping to use it in the church band. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a small instrument with large sound.

I purchased this for my fiance for Christmas. He loves it! Every time he listens to music on the internet he plays with his new toy. He's actually starting to sound really good. The main thing is he's having fun!

Very happy with the sound and the fact that I don't have to bend over to play it. When you mike it, it has a very good, deep kick drum sound. Just wish it had a bag, I am using the box it came in.

                    Comments about Meinl Slap-Top Cajon:

I purchased this drum for my son for his birthday. He is an accomplished hand drum player, playing in his church's worship band. He was playing this drum in about 10 minutes after testing the sounds in different areas. The comfort of the slap-top play is much better than the typical cajon. Great design. Great bass. Great mids. Great snare. Haven't tried to mike it yet, but should perform well in larger auditorium. Good volume for small venues that would not require amplification. Very affordable. You will sell many of these, once the word gets out.
