All of my friends are jealous. Big bass, great snare, and an overall fun drum for the novice drummer.. I knee slap drum to every song in the car, and this drum puts me right in any jam or drum circle!

              Comments about Meinl Slap-Top Cajon:

I was thinking about buying a regular cajone, but thought the playing position might aggravate my back problems. To play this one you sit up straight with it between your knees like a set of bongos...problem solved!

By striking in different areas of the top or by using different parts of your hand you can get an amazing variety of tones. Pulling the baffle baffle tube out of the port gives the instrument a more boomy, hollow sound that is also an interesting variation.

When you are playing this cajone, you really can't hear how it sounds (particularly the bass tones) because the port is facing away from you. I mic it through my guitar amp, boost the bass, mix in a little reverb or echo and enjoy a much improved sound.

Since I am a vocalist/guitarist/worship leader I probably will not be playing the cajone out anywhere. It gives me a lot of enjoyment and lets me express my "inner drummer" at home without having the expense or space requirments of a drum kit.

                  Comments about Meinl Slap-Top Cajon:

Got this for my wife who does open mic and other small events. Usually uses her standard Meinl box cajon. This one is much more portable and has a great and easily controlled set of sounds. Not exactly a replacement for a full drum kit, but it does a great job accompanying an acoustic guitar and vocals in a small venue or just for fun anywhere.

Nice deep bass and snappy snare, Tom is good too. This little Cajon is comfortable to play, the front port projects well. Excellent for small venues, acoustic bands, recording or simply having fun with a small group. Good quality workmanship, should last for many years.

Love this little drum. Wanted a cajon for a long time - desired a more lady-like way to play it - great design. Amazing how many sounds from such a small surface. Bought one for myself and 3 more for family & friends. Fits in regular cajon bag.

                        Comments about Meinl Slap-Top Cajon:

I waited several months to get this item on backorder and wow, am I happy with it! I own several kits, hand drums, percussion items, electronic percussion, and so on and this little cajon is a must-have. I currently use it in an acoustic rock setting with a blues/rock group and could easily see using it in the studio as backing percussion for any of my other projects. It's perfect for accompanying acoustic guitar at an open mic or even at a drum circle. The bass tone is tight and focused and the snare is consistent and clean. The cajon seems built to be mic'd and the recordings I've done with it sound fantastic. I added 4 castanets and I often wear foot tambourines, ankle rattles, and finger shot shakers with a foot cabasa on my left for a fuller sound. With some creative percussion added to the cajon, you can do some really great layering, or keep it simple with the bass note, snare and basic tom runs on the tom section. My only gripe is that it doesn't seem to have a bag available! For about a Benjamin, you can't go wrong. Right now, this thing is getting more use than my MUCH more expensive Wavedrum!
