Comments about Meinl Turbo Slap-Top Cajon:

The turbo slap-top cajon is awesome. Much cooler than a typical cajon that you sit on. It sits nicely on your lap and has a great tone and sound. Very sharp contrast between the snare and bass sounds and a nice in-between tom sound. Quality product that I would absolutely recommend to a percussionist.

Comments about Meinl Turbo Slap-Top Cajon:

Although I am a full time bass player, I am also a percussionist in an acoustic rock band. I have been using a traditional Cajon but because I have ongoing lower back problems, leaning over that Cajon at gigs had brought me to the point where I was near quitting. I saw the smaller version of this slap top at a local music store and knew it would save my back. For my taste/purposes it did not have deep enough bass tones. I saw this one online and checked out some online videos and it sounded amazing, so I got it and it does indeed sound great...and puts NO strain on your back! It is not as deep as a traditional "sit-on" Cajon, but it has a surprisingly warm bass tone and while the snare is a bit crisp....I actually like that unlike the sit-on Cajon, the snares are isolated from the bass so you don't get any snare bleed-thru while using the bass. I would say that this bigger one with front ports is worth the extra money versus its smaller version.

Comments about Meinl Turbo Slap-Top Cajon:

I was recently asked to do a gig at a large theatre, an acoustic vibe where they didn't want drums but rather a cajon. I was looking for something to add to my traditional cajon, for more textures, and stumbled upon this. The combination of highs, lows, snare wires on the side and all around versatility allowed me to do the gig with nothing but this...easy load in! We mic'd it up due to the size of the venue and it totally covered every song we did. Get creative and combine some shakers, tambourine, whatever, but this thing will not disappoint you with the possibilities all on its own. I've since used it on some scaled down acoustic gigs and it kicks butt.

Excellent sound and tone. I'm very pleased with the overall quality. I only wish the center wasn't so wide because it doesn't fit comfortably between your legs. I sit it on a small stand and it works beautifully.

Comments about Meinl Turbo Slap-Top Cajon:

I tried the other slap-top cajon (with the single sound-hole) at the store and it really wasn't too impressive but had a nice feel being played from the top. I ordered this one instead after noticing the three sound-holes and reading about how it has snares on both sides. I play at a bi-weekly group open mic and wanted to shift from strings more into percussion. This cajon has a perfect volume range to play alongside a dozen guitar or just a single one. Also, great tones to it and a very responsive playing surface. Just watch the demonstration videos for hand and finger techniques.

I saw a video of this being played and loved the fact that it sat atop your lap in a seemingly very comfortable manner and had a great bass tone. The bass tone is just as great as it sounded with the expensive mic that was used in the video. It sounds fantastic! It also is very light and extremely comfortable to play. It also has so many different sounds including the snare sounds towards the edges, the pop towards the middle, and the bass tone in the middle of the surface. I absolutely love it and would highly recommend it!

Great sound out of this, especially the bottom end. it has more thump than my snare cajon. I do like the fact that I can sit upright as I'm 6'4" and bending over all the time playing my other one tends to take a toll on my back towards the end of the night.
