This is a blessing. I can play along with the team and stay out of the way. The sound can be loud or louder when mic'd...love it.

Comments about Meinl Turbo Slap-Top Cajon:

I found myself in a position where I needed either a Cajon or a Djembe and wasn't thrilled at the prospect of either. After some searching, I stumbled upon the Meinl Turbo-Slap Top Cajon, watched the video and read the reviews and my quest was over! Comfortable to play and the high end slap is fantastic (could use a little more bottom but that can be remedied with a mic). Highly recommended!

            Comments about Turbo Slap-Top Cajon:

I tried the other slap-top cajon (with the single sound-hole) at the store and it really wasn't too impressive but had a nice feel being played from the top. I ordered this one instead after noticing the three sound-holes and reading about how it has snares on both sides. I play at a bi-weekly group open mic and wanted to shift from strings more into percussion. This cajon has a perfect volume range to play alongside a dozen guitar or just a single one. Also, great tones to it and a very responsive playing surface. Just watch the demonstration videos for hand and finger techniques.

Comments about Meinl Turbo Slap-Top Cajon:

The Turbo Slap Top Cajon simply revolutionizes the entire game. It is a fully versatile percussion kit and with a few accessories, you are basically unstoppable and unlimited in what you can do and create regardless of which musical genre you prefer or play in.

I prefer the Turbo over the standard because the sound and projection are vastly better as are the depth, the tone and the volume in a side by side comparison. It also gives you the most playing versatility by having the snares strategically placed on both sides, and not just on one.
It's summer and when my guitarist wants to play acoustically, I am usually limited to my djembe (too loud), a set of bongos (too boring) and a couple of egg shakers (meh).

This is especially useful if you enjoy playing with a double bass feel, as I often do. It is very easy to riff to the snares on either side with either hand instead of having to always reach over when the snares are located on only one side.

I also purchased the cajon large side mount, the steel jingle tap, the motion shaker, the foot tambourine, the foot shaker and a pair of retractable cajon brushes. I chose all of these because it gives me the most versatility if i choose to use my hands, brushes or my feet as accompaniment.

From rock to jazz to folk (and even acoustic industrial covers) it is now my weapon of choice...by far. Enjoy!

Comments about Meinl Turbo Slap-Top Cajon:

The turbo slap-top cajon is awesome. Much cooler than a typical cajon that you sit on. It sits nicely on your lap and has a great tone and sound. Very sharp contrast between the snare and bass sounds and a nice in-between tom sound. Quality product that I would absolutely recommend to a percussionist.

Comments about Meinl Turbo Slap-Top Cajon:

Although I am a full time bass player, I am also a percussionist in an acoustic rock band. I have been using a traditional Cajon but because I have ongoing lower back problems, leaning over that Cajon at gigs had brought me to the point where I was near quitting. I saw the smaller version of this slap top at a local music store and knew it would save my back. For my taste/purposes it did not have deep enough bass tones. I saw this one online and checked out some online videos and it sounded amazing, so I got it and it does indeed sound great...and puts NO strain on your back! It is not as deep as a traditional "sit-on" Cajon, but it has a surprisingly warm bass tone and while the snare is a bit crisp....I actually like that unlike the sit-on Cajon, the snares are isolated from the bass so you don't get any snare bleed-thru while using the bass. I would say that this bigger one with front ports is worth the extra money versus its smaller version.
