There is no product description provided on the website, so I ordered essentially blind. When it arrived, I found no brand name, no hang tag, no instruction sheet, no anything on the drum itself or inside the box. There is, however, the following information printed on the UPC sticker on the box:

"Holiday Bongos. Latin Percussion, Division of KMC. Made in China."

Disregard the "Latin Percussion" part and focus on "Holiday," which will tell you that these aren't bongos for serious players. They are made instead for seasonal gift sales. However, they are quite playable and are fun to mess around with.

I checked a few websites for how to tune bongos, followed the instructions, and after two or three tries, have them sounding rather nice.

The heads are thin, and on my set, a couple of sharpish bumps (flaws) on the rim they stretch across may cut into those heads in time. For that reason, I am reluctant to tune them up as tight as I might otherwise try. Still, I can get a nice enough "pop" at the tightness I'm comfortable with.

Because the tuning posts are near the heads, they can hurt your hands if you're not careful to avoid them when striking the drum.

The drum itself is more attractive than the photo, in my opinion, being two-tone wood stain (and the drum is made of wooden staves) rather than the nearly red/white candy stripe it appears to be in the picture.

A more serious instrument would be at least twice the price, and that would be an entry-level bongo. So for what you pay, you get something which with a little tuning work is a functional, beginner-level drum with a quite decent sound. I do not at all regret having bought this.

Comments about Musician's Gear Full-Size Tunable Bongos:

You can tune these bongos with the included key, and they appear to be very durable and well made from quality materials. Understanding that they are an entry level instrument at an entry level price, I am very satisfied.

I bought these bongos for the price, I haven't played any bongos since the 70s, I just had to buy these when I came around to them on the website, I am so glad that I bought them, You don't really forget how to played them, Which is very cool, I able to get a 30 second loop on the bongos that really doesn't sound like bongos, But it worked I am very stoked right now, Ask me in 6 months what I think then about the bongos, I may not give the same review, So if you just want to add a new sound or just have something to play around with it, You can't go wrong for the price
