I tend to break sticks period no matter the make/model, that being said, if you are fine with frequent changes like between every third or fourth song, these are just fine. Rim shots sound great. The tips are obviously the first to suffer and the stick tends to split about the same place at the point of complete failure.

I have a few pairs of these lying around in my basement that a friend brought over. Yhey're very light compared to other drumsticks. they almost seem porous... and they put a weird coating over the drumsticks to make them last longer (since the wood has such little density). yes they last about as long as a normal drumstick pair. not quite, but almost. sure, you can hit drums with them. but there are 3 flaws1) like I said, they're light. too light. I like having more weight behind the stick, but that's just my oppinion.2) the head of the stick (I got 5a wood) sounds AWFUL on ride cymbals. wayyy too muddy.3) I use hearing protection, which makes me play louder. I play verry loudly. when you hit hard, THESE DRUMSTICKS HURT! yes, they hurt. they vibrate excessively and make your hand sting after about 10 minute of heavy playing. especially with rim shots.my oppinion - have 2 or 3 good pairs of drumsticks lying around so you can actually 'play' with. if you really wanna have a ton of backup pairs for whatever reason, then sure, buy these, but don't expect to be good. too light for rock, too sucky sounding on the ride for jazz, and they just hurrrrrt.

Comments about Musician's Gear Hickory Drumsticks:

I am a heavy hitter and I go through a lot of drumsticks. But the way how these are proportioned they are extremely durable long and light.
perfect for some heavy hitting metal.

And I prefer these over some Vic Firths.

Comments about Musician's Gear Hickory Drumsticks:

I am not a picky drummer and am with a wide tolerance. But this one was a disappointment. From the price, I was not expecting much but it looked like just came out from lumber shop. Powdery rough surface and too light. Lower quality (finish and material) than other seconds I know of. I sanded it but did not work. Only possible use of these I can think of is for a school band practice. I had no choice but to burn all of them in my fire place on Christmas day. From reading other reviews, maybe I got a bad batch.

Comments about Musician's Gear Hickory Drumsticks:

These sticks are awesome for the musician on a budget. Some of these other reviewers might have cash to burn, but I don't. At about 1$ a pair this set can last a while. They are VERY durable (I can't stress that enough) And when you do break a stick you have 18 more to break; so just throw the broken hickory stick on the grill and make yourself a Musician's Win burger.

If you're looking for good, smooth, finished drumsticks then don't buy these. However, if you're looking for as many as you can get for as little money as possible so you can have enough for an entire classroom, then these are great! They are unfinished wood so there are small splinters. I taped the hand-holding area with glow in the dark duck tape so we can have some drumming fun in the dark. I'm happy with them. Wasn't expecting top quality at this price and these will certainly make my students happy. Already have, actually.

We purchased 100 pairs of these for a school painting project. Some of the sticks had the plastic tips, some did not. Some where very fat tipped, some were skinny tipped. They will work fine for our project, but for a musician, I can see how that could be a problem.
