Ive been using Nova 5A Nylonsfor over 6 years. Money is tight and it just dosent make sense to pay for brand name sticks when deals like these are out there. These stick are hickory. Some will have small blemishes like knots but they always run straight and true. Excellent balance, bounce and weight. I tried the Goodwood in the same size and they just dont feel near as balanced. Rimshots sound good and they dont chip out too badly. Youll sooner split it in half than chip them but that all depends on the player as well. The only negative thing I can come up with is that these sticks will soak up hand sweat there upsetting the balance a bit. I gig with these sticks and practice too.

These sticks are truely little more than a "stick". There is almost no quality matching of tone, weight, balance point, or stick circumfrence. Since I received a bulk pak of these as a gift from a relative (my wife) I felt obligated (required) to at least use them. Thank goodness they are finally gone!
Almost every stick has a radically different characteristic than it's sleeved partner. You will best be served by attempting to re-partner (and mark) the entire batch on your own. These are the first sticks I've ever owned that required including curvature as part of their sorting properties. Almost every stick had some degree of warping effect ranging from a slight bend on up to won't even roll across a table with a good push.
For anybody even remotely serious about percussion, please, don't waste your time with these as you definately will be very disappointed. However if you're a beginning percussioninst on a budget or even an elemenetary school music director, these would be just fine. While these sticks do have the durability, and ocassionally the weight of a set of "pro sticks", I would have to classify these as little more than a "toy" due to the lack of consistency manufacturing and pair matchings.

Comments about Nova 12-Pair Hickory Drumsticks:
Our organization supplies these sticks for use with our drum kit during weekly Blues jams. As many as 6-7 drummers per night will use them, and they take one hell of a beating. They hold up well, don't splinter too early, and participating drummers are pleased with their durability. We've been buying these sticks for years and we'll continue to do so - as long as they remain available.

Comments about Nova 12-Pair Hickory Drumsticks:
The NOVA brand sticks may have minor imperfections, but the imperfections are so minute that it doesnt make too much a difference in playing. The only problem I have ever had with these sticks were that they may crack internally and eventually split. With that said, the price you get for the amount of sticks... Who can complain? Not me. I recommend these to anyone who is into drumming or percussion. Thanks.

Comments about Nova 12-Pair Hickory Drumsticks:
The worst thing about them is the side of the tips usually pop out and there is still plenty of stick left, the length needs to be specified(only 15 1/2 in.) prefer 16 1/4 in.,a little light in weight, But, only play as a hobby now,(40+yrs.exp.) so they work just fine. Had 3 pr. pro.mark Neil Peart time machine series, 1pr. lasted 6months the tip side popped sticks still like new, the other 2 pr. lasted about 1 month ea. before the tips popped. payed almost as much for the 3 pr. pro.mark as the 12 pr. NOVA's. Usually play from 1-3 hrs. a day. Well worth the price.

Comments about Nova 12-Pair Hickory Drumsticks:
Get these sticks, you won't be dissapointed. No, they are not weighted but who cares? Once your swinging wood you won't notice the very slight differences in weight. Amarican hickory! last gig after gig.

Comments about Nova 12-Pair Hickory Drumsticks:
As the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. Vic Firth is a good brand however these sticks do not deserve their label. I was looking for a cheaper alternative to going through $9 pairs of sticks every show and this was not a good solution. These would be ideal for either stocking a school with backup sticks or for very light hitters.

Comments about Nova 12-Pair Hickory Drumsticks:
I've been playing semi professional for the last 4 years. I've been using the Vic Firth NOVA's for the last 2 years. Sticks break, expensive ones, cheap ones. Some go fast, some take a long time. But for this price, it suits me well to break a pair of sticks every few weeks. I got a sweet deal on them the last time and ordered 2 bricks. I don't think I will change sticks again soon.
