Comments about Orange County Drum & Percussion Piccolo Snare Drum:

This is probably the worst sounding snare drum I've ever had. Changed heads, hoops, wires, etc. Nothing would make it better. Cheap, tinny sound. Its very pretty if you just want an appearances-only side snare and you can tolerate the ugly pointed lugs and ocdp throwoff. Mine got re-sold at a big loss. I'm no rooky. Had l-o-t-s of snare drums and been playing 50 years.

Comments about Orange County Drum & Percussion Piccolo Snare Drum:

Good snare drum w/good tone and large sound for a small footprint drum. However, the Q/C needs to be improved because the snare control mechanism was dangling so I removed the top head to re-attach it and tightened the hardware, also discovered "all" the lugs were loose and needed to be tightened. Spent a few minutes getting everything tighted down, re-assembled & tuned-up. Easy to tune, great tone, great rims for responsive rim-shots. Unique appearance as well. Great little drum!

It IS a snare drum...

Comments about Orange County Drum & Percussion Piccolo Snare Drum:

My only issue with this snare is the throw-off mechanism. The lever hits the rim when on, and hits the shell when off. It was very difficult to get it adjusted to where the snares would release all the way. I don't have them real tight. I like to hear the snare with the lightest tap. But even then, whith the snares all the way off, they touched the head enought to rattle when hit. I moved the snares back and forth on the head, set it up with the throw-off adjusted to its furthest out, furthest in, and every combination possible. I replaced the nylon bands with strings. That helped a lot, but I finally got it. I don't know how. But It was time-consuming. Once adjusted with new heads, it has a pretty good tuning range
What features? It has everything required....I don't know what else you could add.
Seems to be very good quality. It is quite heavy for a piccolo. It looks very cool with the black chrome, offset lugs, and die-cast hoops.
For the price, good little snare.
