I purchased this drum kit in May of 2010. Regardless of what other people think, this is a very nice drum kit from entry level to professional. Many people dislike the idea that this drum kit has basswood shells, but they're better than many people realize. This kit has outstanding power and projection as stated in the description. Also to top it off the edgy looks make this kit really stand out, but when choosing the finish make sure to check out what sizes come with each finish. Another thing is though to many unexperienced people want to mute their drums, and have no overtone. They don't understand that a drum has to have a little bit of overtone, just even the slightest to even have a tone. A drum just sounds completely flat and dead when it is muted. I can almost guarentee every profesionaly drummer's drum kit has at lest a little bit of ring to it. If your a drummer who knows what they're doing you would understand how nice the kit truely is.

OCDP has really high-end, custom drums and they are entering the low-end kit market, nothing that the big name drum companies haven't been doing.Drums looks great in the showroom. Wrap is delmar, I guess, so it looks fancy, or at least better than wraps on other beginner kits. Triangular badges add a high-end look. Considering it has basswood shells, you can't expect a lot out of that. Compared to a Ludwig Accent that has basswood shells, the toms sound about the same - a drab, muddy thunk. I don't even know why they put a suspension rim on the tom-tom. The bass drum, however, sounds pretty good for a basswood shell; I guess that is due to the depth of the shell. This is an okay kit for a beginner, kind of like in the Ludwig Accent or Pearl Forum range. But, I think it is over-priced and they are trying to market it as worth more with the OCDP name.

Simply, this is an outstanding drum set truely crafted to please. Anyone could bring all aspects of their persoanlity to a performance on this kit. The unique features of this kit more than qualifies it for studio and live applications.
I like the kit so much I went and bought another one. One for practice and one for gigs.
Overall I have played Pearl, Tama, PDP, Gretch and even DW and I would buy these everytime for the money. Sure if you have the money to spend than get the DW otherwise this is the best kit out there.
First off I want to say when I bought these drum there was a DW kit right next to it. I saw that the DW kit was made out of the same basswood as the OC drums. So for people who don't like basswood get over it even DW uses it. That sold it for me. I snatched them up and couldn't be happier.
I love the basswood it sounds fantastic. The hardware is good quality for the price. The blue rap looks great but wish the would have made it so you couldn't see the seam.
Can't beat the price
man this kit sounds pretty good for its price... its a definite buy for musicians on a lower budget. and the kick drum sounds awesome as well. the only thing is the snare is hard to tune but its nothing a little bit of tape or gel cant fix!
I purchased this kit for a little over a month agowith an extra floor tom and I'm really liking what I hear. If you know how to tune drums correctly this kit can sound very good even with the factory stock heads (I would recommend getting other heads). The only downsides to this kit are the drums become detuned very easily and you have to constantly tune over and over again. This may happen with any new kit but not as easily as this kit. Another downside geared towards the look is the wrap is very loose when it was put on and made to look very pretty and fancy when it's really not all that great and just average. Other than that I think this is a great set for a good price and it fits my music ranges.
Been playing metal for several years with EP's and two songs that went on world wide compilation CD's. Played Yamaha to PDP in the studio and live. OCDP hit this one. Bought two OCDP kits and with a few adjustments they sound fantastic. I exclusively use OCDP now. Two kits for different sized venues. OCDP did not go wrong and the poor comments are just not correct. It is true some adjustments need to be made. From changing the heads to muffling the bass. Tuning is key. If they are muddy they arent tuned. You CAN get a bang for your buck here!
iv owned these drums for 3 days now and they are great. i have alredy brought them back in forth once and they seemed really sturdy and roadworthy. when i got them all tuned up they just sounded vantastic, especially the snare, its 12 ply and very loud, i let a friend play the drums while i was standing away from the kit and they sounded very good, i have an emad on the bass drum and i have only a little pillow in there because the 20x20 is a canon! also, the drums do stay in tune prety well, i havnt had a problem with them going out of tune fast. i highly recomend this kit especially for the price range, not only does it look amazing but they sound great and so far hold up very well. and dont worry that the shells are bass wood they still have great sustain and tone
I went with my friend (Who's an amazing drummer) to Guitar Center, where we found this set (in white) on display. The snare has a really warm and punchy sound with no echo, and the toms had a warm low end sound to them. The kick drum had a nice low boom, and though it may not be worth it's price tag, there is NO disputing that this is a quality set.
I just got this kit first thing i realized is the drum hoops. That is the only thing i don't like about this kit there cheaply made but once this kit is tuned it sounds phenomenal! great buy definitely worth the price dont hesitate buying it!
this is by far one of the worse kits ive ever playedive heard better even on a ludwig 5 accent combo compared to this piece of junkif you are really trying to get a decent kit for this price.. id go for a gretsch catalinadont let the brand fool you on this onejust because it is ocdp, doesnt mean its goodgo to a local music shop, play it, and you will no exactly what i am talking aboutive had people tell me that its not even worth the moneybad ocdp, BAD!
Just bought this kit today!!! I was skeptical at first- not at looks, it looks amazing- but at the actual quality of the set... DO NOT be scared of these drums!!! I understand that the powder coated black doesn't look as cool as the black chrome found on more expensive OCDPs, but still... Everything is shiny and attractive. And they look better in person than they do in the photo above. These drums sound amazing, too. I bought coated ambassadors, an emperor x, and a powerstroke... The sound relies all on the tuning ability of the drummer. Seriously though, the only thing that may go wrong is damage from shipping. Buy these stunning drums so you will still have money left over for cymbals or a double pedal. =)
