Precise energy and powerful projection for rock, jazz, and fusion
Made with CuSn8 Bronze, also known as "2002 Bronze", the Paiste 2002 series is based on the first cymbal series fully developed for electronically amplified music. During the 1960's developing Beat and Rock music required cymbal sound to match the new frequencies and volume levels and in 1967 the Giant Beat series was created - The 2002 was developed 1971 fusing the power of the Giant Beat with the differentiation of the Jazz series Formula 602.
Paiste once again makes the 2002 a core series for the future, as the best and most innovative Dimensions models are incorporated into the newly expanded 2002, adding current trend cymbal sound to this venerable line. Used by countless top players world-wide over three decades to create a significant portion of our modern music heritage.

Comments about Paiste 2002 22" Heavy Ride:
I bought this cymbal sight unseen a few years back. Well, perhaps longer than that... But I have to say that I haven't been disappointed. After years previous playing a 22" Ride I felt I wanted one with a more defined stick ping, and this one has it! Now I will say this, when it was new it was a bit too tight sounding for me. It was close, but not quite on my target. But now all these years later it has mellowed exactly where I like it. I have a hard time playing any others now. It holds it's own even against the Signature line too from my time trying all those in person. (I used to work a music shop floor.) If the Signature is too rich, you'll be happy with a 2002. I am!
Comments about Paiste 2002 22" Heavy Ride:
The 2002 "Ride" is advertised as the ?classic ride sound.? That may be true, but this cymbal gives you the classic 2002 ride sound with increased pingy definition. Don't let the name "Heavy Ride" fool you into thinking this is cymbal suited primarily for hard rock playing. Sure, it'll rock with the best of them, but this baby is both strong and meaty and elegant and glassy. It's hard to imagine anyone objecting to the sound of this cymbal. I recommend the 22?.
