Since 1983 Paiste cymbals have been a part of Alex Van Halen‘s unmistakably unique sound. His setup always consisted primarily of 2002 cymbals so it's not a surprise that the new "Reverend Al's Big Ride", created in co-operation with Alex, is also part of the 2002 range. Soundwise this 24" cymbal is similar to the 24" Giant Beat, which has been Alex‘s favorite ride cymbal since it's re-release in 2005.
The Paiste Sound Development team adopted the specifications of the 24" Giant Beat by mimicking the Giant Beat's shape, weight, bell size, and hammering patterns. This beautiful cymbal is finished using the unmistakable and characteristic 2002 lathing technique. It differs from the 24" Giant Beat primarily due to its remarkably silky ping and although being relatively light in weight, the Big Ride produces a rich, full bodied sound that covers a wide range of dynamics. This cymbal is also a fantastic crash cymbal.
Created in conjunction with Alex Van Halen!

Comments about Paiste 2002 Big Ride:
I have waited for years for Paiste to release THE ride in the 24in size. I have the 24in Giant Beat ride and it is amazing, it responds to every nuance you play. It's dynamics is pure class!! The 2002 Big Ride is everything the Giant Beat 24in is but better!!! The bell is sweet, the riding makes the sticks you use come to life and it's wash or crashing is pure magic. Seriously folks! This ride will give you a clear idea whether your drumsticks are up to its standard!! It blends so beautifully with my 2002 18in & 20in Crash(s) & Medium(s) and my 2002 15in Sound Edge Hi Hats are like they're meant to be together, in a nutshell they have the perfect sonic balance. Every show or recording I do the sound engineer's can't help telling me how great they sound out front. My fellow drumming buddies constantly tell me how massive and dynamic they sound. Paiste have done it again. The Paiste 2002 Big Ride is a must have!!!
