She's So Heavy

By Cymbaholic

from Nashville

Comments about Paiste 2002 Heavy Ride Cymbal:

Looking for a used 20" Ride (couldn't find one), unable to afford one new, I got a used 20" Heavy Ride here in great condition (Condition 2, but I can't find the "blemish" that caused markdown), for a rock-bottom price. (Thanks, mf!) I was able to replicate the sounds on the Paiste site exactly under these conditions. Bell: sound of my cymbal an exact match. Bow: sound of mine an exact match when struck lightly with a nylon-tip stick 2" in from edge. So that's the tone. As to volume, agree sustain is LONG. A light tap on the bow sustained audibly (ear 14" from cymbal) for 30 seconds. I think of this cymbal as Paiste counterpart to Zildjian Ping Ride with B8 instead of B20 overtones. If you like the Z Ping you'll like this. If not, go for a straight Ride. But this just went on sale. Grab one now and rock! P.S. Aesthetics as with all Paiste cymbals except the previous Alpha line (finally beautiful again) a 10/10. Truly the most beautiful cymbals in the world.

Nice

Comments about Paiste 2002 Heavy Ride Cymbal:

When they call this a heavy ride, they are not kidding. You could use this puppy to do bench press exercises...so make sure that you have a sturdy cymbal stand. (just kidding bout the bench press) But it is heavy. It also has a rather bright quality when doing a straight ride. Very distinct sticking and longer sustain than the Pastie web site says. It is LOUD too. If you want a ride that can really cut through, this is it. Quality is perfect and it is a pretty cymbal. Nice bell too. Oh, you will NOT be crashing this cymbal unless you have a drumstick sponser. Strictly ride.

Paiste 2002 Heavy Ride

Comments about Paiste 2002 Heavy Ride Cymbal:

This is a great sounding ride cymbal. It has a beautiful stick sound and long sustain. The bell is small but it has a very distinct sound. There is also a bit of dark wash produced by this cymbal making it versatile for more subtle styles. However the wash can easily get lost in the mix with a loud band. Overall, this ride seems like the middle ground between the 2002 ride and the 2002 Power Ride.
