I recently got a new pair of these 15" hats. I have always played 14" New Beats, only, up until now. When I first set these up, I had a peculiar unease about the sound, but they quickly grew on me, and within seconds, I was really digging the new sound. They have a very cripy sound, overall, and lots of cut. The chick sound is quite sharp and not so airy or whispy. The open sound is quite sizzly. They are quite quick for 15" hats. Depending on the type of music you play, I might not recommend these as the most versatile, all-round pair for everything, but if you are going for an agressive sound with lots of attack, you might love these above all others. Highly recommended !

These are without a doubt, the best high-hat cymbals I've "heard." BUT I have been through two sets since buying my first set not quite a year ago. I don't know if it's the empty space created by the waves in the edge or what, but I've had to go back to my color-sounds because they keep cracking top & bottom cymbal. I guess if you have an endorsement, they're great, because they do sound sweet. I just can't afford to replace any more.

Comments about Paiste 2002 Sound Edge Hi-Hats:

I have used these Hi-Hats since 1975 and simply put there is no better sound out there! The current set I have I purchased new in 1980. Not a ding, dent or scratch on them. Someone recently asked me if they were new...LOL I have several other hats from various manufacturers but none sound this clean and precise. Great for studio or live applications. I have used them In both applications. Studio engineers love the precise focus of them and playing live they are not overbearing at all and yet cut right trough all the other instruments whether they are miked or not. I have used them for classic/hard rock to pop applications. Well worth the money kids!

Comments about Paiste 2002 Sound Edge Hi-Hats:

There is a reason John Bonham used these cymbals. They cut through everything and sound clear and crisp. Paiste cymbals are the best. I record frequently and am always very happy with the results of Paiste signature crashes and these hi-hats. They are expensive but if you want the best sound possible, it is worth it.

These hats are exquisite. I had a set a long time ago and I should never have let them go.
I have a second set and I love them. They cut through everthing, they are responsive, and depending on a person's attack I can get plenty of sound from these lovely hats.

Comments about Paiste 2002 Sound Edge Hi-Hats:

These hats can get LOUD really quick. I can't say enough about them. I've been playing 15" Sabian Sizzle hats the past 20 years, I thought I would play Sabian the rest of my life. Then I found my ears really liking the sound I was hearing from some of the concerts I had been to. What did they all have in common? Paiste! I replaced my whole setup with 2002s, with the exception of my sweet sounding 18" Giant Beat. Back to these hats, they will literally force you out of any bad habits because even through the wash you still hear defined stick work. I've had them for 2 weeks now and I've cleaned up my technique. I know everyone has loyalties to certain equipment but after hearing and playing these I couldn't resist making the change!

Comments about Paiste 2002 Sound Edge Hi-Hats:

I have and only use Paiste cymbals on my drums as they have proven to be the most reliable, durable and preferred cymbal based on sounds and feel when I play them. I was a bit reluctant on the "sound edge" verses my original 2002 hi-hats but, That changed once I played them.....The open and closed "chick" sound is more pronounced and I love the way the hi-hat "drags" when slightly opened. This hi-hat in my opinion is great for all styles of music and as always Paiste continues to impress me.

Bought my first pair 40+ years ago, still using them. I had to buy a second pair for my rehearsal kit. They are mellow yet bright and responsive. By far the best hi-hats I have ever used. I play many gigs per year that have a kit ready for the drummer with all sorts of cymbals, so I do have a working knowledge of other gear. Still the best.!

These hi hats never sound rinky-dink, at any volume, open or closed. I have a pair of Zjildjian Mastersound 14 hats that I have loved, but I must admit that these Paistes sound good with every stroke in a way that the Mastersounds do not. If you're looking for a more defined sound, a richer, clearer and more responsive, these hats will take you to that level.

I have played zildjians for a long time , being the factory is next town over. However the sound I love I could never get. I stopped and looked at the cymbals my fav drummers use. All!! of them use paiste!! niko, alex van halen, stewert copland, mullen jr, Bonham! moon, So I went to my drum shop with all my zildjians, and turned them in and bought paiste! Over a year ago, still awesome as ever! the se hi hats, can not say enough! I don't know why other guys chip or crack? I abuse the things and nothing just great awesome sound! all the 2002 line is awesome! the only thing that isn't paiste in my set is a sabian 10" chopper. the rest is all 2002 line! best cymbals I ever had, and will only use!

These hats are LOUD! Great for Rock or even heavy rock/metal. (In fact I think the drummer from G.W.A.R uses 2002's) They really are top notch quality when it comes to cymbals. These have a nice sharp crisp when closed, but have a loud, washy yet controlled sound when half opened. Right now I have these hats and a 2002 16" Crash. I plan on filling out the rest of my set with 2002's because they really are the best!

Just received my 15" 2002 Sound edge hi-hats today. Couldn't get them out of the box fast enough. First off the finish on the 2002 series cymbals is gleaming. I bought these to replace my old 2002 Heavy Rock Hi-hats that I had tons of miles on. (still in good shape). All I can say is awesome and exactly what I wanted and expected from Paiste

Whoever came up with the idea for that rippled bottom cymbal was a genius. Aside from the great chick sound, you get a more open total hi-hat sound.I have a pair of the 15's and they sound amazing! Makes all the other hats I've ever played sound like toys. They are expensive, but there is a reason for it. They are top shelf. Bonzo knew a good thing when he heard it.

I owned a set of Signature Sound Edge hats for about a week and traded them in on a 15" pair of these. The Signature sounded too thin and antiseptic for my taste. The Zildjian Z Custom mastersound hats have a rippled bottom as well and sound the best to me but they tarnish easily. I have a 13 year old 2002 ride that I never touch and it is just starting to tarnish a bit. Get the 2002 sound edge. Thats my advise.

GREAT HI-HATS.. but not for heavy hitters

Comments about Paiste 2002 Sound Edge Hi-Hats:

These hi-hats are simply amazing. I have owned them for almost 5 months now, and they have yet to let me down. I have owned played z custom and k hi-hats, but these by far have the best sound opened and closed! My only complaints about these cymbals are that the top hi-hat is kinda thin and if you play a lot of heavy driving music, you could split them and at this price you definitely don't want that! So my advice is you will love them but they are quite fragile!
