Paiste

Dark sound for smashing through chunky palm mutes.

The character of the Paiste Alpha Metal Crash Cymbal is very powerful, metallic, and icy shimmery with a trashy, dark edge. The cymbal has a wide range and a fairly dirty mix. It's a very strong and sturdy crash cymbal that can be used in many settings of today's metal music. Occasional crash/riding patterns are also possible with this type of cymbal.

Alpha cymbals were first launched by Paiste in 1992. Today, the Alpha brand is synonymous with dependability, and the cymbals are well known for their first-class sound and fair prices. This Metal Crash Cymbal from the Alpha Series is now available in a Brilliant Finish, once again advancing these trusted qualities.

The brilliant look is accomplished by skilled craftsmen who hand polish the Alpha Metal crash cymbals to a mirror perfect finish in the final production stage. Prior to that, top-notch hi-tech processes give Alpha cymbals their initial shape and strength. They are further enhanced by traditional hand-hammering.

Paiste Alpha cymbals have become very popular among professional artists, especially in rock and metal. Working with such drummers, Paiste developed new cymbals to expand the arsenal available for players in these genres.

Paiste Alpha cymbals have developed a strong following in recent years and are today endorsed by numerous working drummers all over the world, such as Jeremy Spencer of Five Finger Death Punch, Jason Sutter with Chris Cornell, Dave Witte of Municipal Waste, Tommy Portimo of Sonata Arctica, and Steven Spence of Black Tide.

Got the 17" about 3 months ago.  I have a terrible track record with destroying cymbals....some people may call it lack of technique, I call it too much SOUL!  But either way, I play the heck out of this thing...and not even a stick mark to show for it.  It will seriously stand up to anything!  This cymbal is also LOUD!!!  verry bright sounding and truly does cut through ANY mix.

Sound quality expected of higher end models.

Features:

I have been a die-hard Paiste user for nearly ten years and have generally used only the signature line or 2002 line. I used a few of the older model alphas before they redesigned them and really enjoyed the sound, but was mostly unimpressed with the sounds of the newly designed alphas. Since their prices have risen outrageously in recent years, I had to settle for the alpha series crash to replace my signature full crash (my favorite!). I am completely blown away by the quality of the sound of this cymbal. I opted for the 20" to match the rest of my cymbals and it keeps pace with my 2002 20" power crash and 2002 20" novo china. In fact, I daresay I almost like it better! Very loud and crazy sustain. Icy and bold. Versatile in every sense of the word. Huge bell that is cutting and beautiful. Couldn't ask for more at the price.

I've got the 18" Crash for already a month and I LOVE IT!

One thing i abosolutely love is that it sounds unique. It sounds icy, full, slightly trashy & LOUD.

Although the price is a little expensive, it's worth it. If your thinking of getting this cymbal, GET IT!!!

Very suitable crash for metal, punk & rock

Loud but ugly

Features:

So I bought this thing thinking it was going to be the answer to my problems, but I was wrong. I bought the 17 for my main crash. Well it is loud, but its why to glassy and has a cheap sounding decay after you hit it. It also does not look as good as the picture here. Its not shiny like that, but has those hammer marks are on em. It does have a reasonable price though. So if you want something that is decently priced, is super loud, but not so great sounding, then go with this.
