Good Stuff

Comments about Paiste PST 3 Essential Cymbal Set 13/18:

I have been a drummer for a little while (about 6 or 7 years) but I always played on other sets or borrowed a friend's set to play on, untill I got my own junky Ludwig kit. I bought these cybals because like most people I have very little funds to spend on cymbals. I've played better cymbals before but these are not too bad. Worth the money for sure and they like getting hit hard. My only suggestion is to buy the pack with the 14 inch hi-hats instead because my snare drum on the kit I have outweighs the hi-hats a little bit even after I put a dry geneva head on it. Good cybals for a starting kit, but don't forget to buy a crash cymbal. The crash/ride is not the sound I was going for. Save up and get a Z custom.

Comments about Paiste PST 3 Essential Cymbal Set 13/18:

I'm an old school studio owner, drum tech, gigging musician, gear head, etc... I've owned many high end pro level drum kits with high end cymbal setups. I've never owned any low end cymbals but I have heard the harsh wrath they can rein on the ear drums. Recently, I purchased a small home kit to mess around with as I'm now a retired musician. Like an idiot I sold off most of my high end gear. Don't do that, for those of you reading this. Just don't.

So, needless to say I was extremely apprehensive to buy a cymbal pack of any sort. Normally when buying a cymbal I'll spend a few hours in the cymbal room bashing around before I pick a few to put on the house hit and then bash around for another hour before picking just one great sounding cymbal. So this purchase felt very much like a big scary, blind decision. I married them up with my Gretsch Catalina Custom kit. And I have to say, with a few quick hits I was immediately relieved. They sound decent. Not great, but decent. And more importantly they don't sound harsh or abrasive. You can make them sound horrible if you're a basher or don't understand stick control. But overall I'm quite pleased. The hats have a nice chick sound with a subtle sizzle. The crash/ride is a great setup for those of us who don't want to break the bank. The bell on the ride is my only real complaint. It's not horrible but it's also not the greatest. But the ride does have plenty of "ping" which I personally like. You do have to give it a good side stick strike to get it to really crash while providing decent decay.

I'd feel good about gigging with these. You could lay tracks with them using the right mic's, pre's and e.q. Hope this helps!

Comments about Paiste PST 3 Essential Cymbal Set 13/18:

I got these cymbals a while ago and they're great! The only thing I have to complain about is, the crash is a little deep tone wise, but that's expected, considering it's a crash, ride. But, that's just me =D The hi-hat rocks. the tone is perfect, and the sound of it open or closed is amazing. The ride on the crash is rwally good also. Overall, really good cymbals.

      Amazing cymbals!!!

These cymbals are good for any level drummer. Ive had them for about 4 months now and no cracks or dents or anything. The crash has a deep tone but thats not a bad thing, and the Hi Hats sound amazing closed or open. Overall these cymbals are awesome and if ur at any level i highly recommend you buying these.

      July sale of 2011

Comments about Paiste PST 3 Essential Cymbal Set 13/18:

I had them exactly for about 10-1/2 months, since July last year. More and more I couldn't ask for anything better! well the hats to be more specific haha but I traded my crash/ride for my friends 16" Zildjian Scimitar Crash to go with my 20" Scimitar Ride. I actually ended up missing my 18" crash/ride, but I knew how much my friend needed something similar to a ride. Let me tell you they do sound great, and I have played B8's and ughh they sound like crap!! especially the same size crash/ride and hats, horrid things that should never be played!! but that's just 1/4 of me as a drummer and my opinions (guitarist, bassist, and pianist.)
I actually got these cheaper than they are at Guitar Center on the 4th of July sale!

I've owned this pack for about a year now. i use the crash/ride for a crash now. it works great for chugging rhythms and flows. the hi hats are perfect. I would still use these if i was a pro. completely mic friendly and subtle. get these. for sure.
