Sounded fantastic in the Paiste Sound Room. Sounds amazingly like their sample in real life (even on my cheap little 'puter monitors.) The quality of this PST 5 is better than the pricing would suggest. Fits in with other Paiste Alpha family cymbals that I plan to acquire to complete my sound. Great focused sound that is less trashy and almost crashy. Sounds way less gongy than larger China's do.

Just got it, delivered in three days in good condition. I bought this China after comparative listening with other China's that Paiste makes, in their Soundroom feature on their web site. Mine sounds amazingly close to what I hear there even when I compare mine live with theirs through my low end computer monitors. I chose the PST 5 over more expensive models because of the sound it produces. It sounds way less trashy and less like a gong than larger diameter China's that I hear. The low cost is always a plus though as well. It seems well enough made but what look like hammer marks around the outer edge in the pictures is really a pattern of what is called "spotfacing", which was probably put there by CNC machines. Who cares though. This thing is really sweet. I plan on replacing my poor sounding no name crash with another Paiste as well, based on the soundroom samples. I really like the Alpha 18" Thin Crash. I would go to the local drum shop and listen to the thing live but that is kind of not cool because I would never pay their inflated retail prices in the first place and would just be using them. I'll trust the Soundroom feature. Worked great with this China.

This 14 inch china has a nice full sound with the trashiness you expect similar to my wuhan but not as loud and you do not have to hit it hard to get the sound you want. I also play it with the bell turned up to get a little softer sound but still trashy and maybe a little brighter and it doesn't tear up sticks like the wuhans do. Great cymbal and the size is easy to place, I have mine on a Gibraltar grabber arm and it works great.
