I've had this Signature Dark Energy MKI ride for almost exactly a year at the time of this post, and, while being one of the most beautiful rides I've played, it has developed a small crack on the edge. This is extremely disheartening, as the price makes it very difficult to replace. The sound is all right if I use it lightly, but if I start really banging on it you can hear the crack vibrate. I admit, I've hit it pretty hard, (it sounds great as a crash cymbal too) but, for the price, it should be made to withstand such treatment, at least for more than a year. I'm debating weather I should buy another one (when I have the money). Despite this, the sound is truly amazing, and, for me, would be worth the hefty price if it hadn't cracked already.

I had recieved this cymbal for christmas (22') and it complements my (16') dark energy crash perfectly. Its sound is deep dark and dangerous! gGet this ride !

ive owned this (22")ride for ever 3 years and i have nothing but good things to say about it. havent purchased another ride since. very strong sounding if you know what i mean. has a terrific presence in the mix. the bell is crisp and cuts through almost anything. works great with many cymbal arrangements as well which is very important if you are adding it to other cymbals as i did when i got it and still to this day. plus i just got dark energy hats this week and they compliment each other beautifully. i totally recommend both BUT if you play metal a lot or hard hard rock i wouldnt recommend the hi hats without trying them out first to make sure it is the sound you are looking for. however i would buy the ride blind cause i dont think you will be disappointed. but if your guitarists play loud obnoxious metal, then the ride might wash a little too much in blast beats. just some food for thought!

I bought this cymbal new today. The wash is truely dark and equally as dynamic. At first, it tends to disappear in the mix when playing with the band, but upon listening to the recording, I could hear every stroke clearly. The bell cuts through nicely and has a medium sustain. Overall, I am thrilled to have this cymbal with my other Paistes. It adds a completely different atmosphere to the music.
