Add to that a wide choice of stunning lacquer finishes and a myriad of professional features to make one serious kit designed for serious players.

I've been playing a long time and carefully shopped for the last kit I would ever buy. I must say I made the right decision. This kit is outstanding for any price range. solid hardware, fantastic acoustics, easy to tune, and great price point. I can't see myself ever changing to another kit.
DW has hit a home run with the PDP LX series sets. I've owned my PDP LX 5pc Fusion kit over a year now and use it exclusively for live performances in Rock, Jazz and Blues ensembles. The sound, appearance and overall craftmanship is top of the line. Definately an instrument you can be proud to own and perfom with. Once you've replaced the factory heads with a quality set this kit really comes alive! I installed Evans Coated G2's on top with clear G1's for resonates and was impressed with the sound quality this kit produced.
I bought my first PDP kit three and a half years ago knowing they were the best drums you could get for the money, but words can't describe how much they have surpassed all my expectations. I would be willing to say they are the most versatile and durable drums on the planet, if you set them up next to a set of DW collecter series and played them both blind folded you wouldn't hear much of a difference.
I was actually going to purchase a Gretch Renowned maple kit when I found my Regal/Royal LX series drums. I was stuck on the fact that they weren't considered as pro as other kits, until I heard them. The sound was phenominal for a kit in any price range. The finnish is simply gorgeous. I get all kinds of compliments when I gig. I've owned them for a year and no complaints. I switch fropm the factory DW heads to Evans clear G2's. I also got the 8 and 16 inch addon toms. I think more major players will be playing PDP's. Unless you just want to spend 3X as much money, givem' a shot, you can't go wrong.
very good quality set. I would put this set against any other set in the same price range. The toms have very good tone and a solid feel. I expect this set should not need to be upgraded to play any venue. Also the stock heads are ok. They will be fine if for a while if money is much of an issue.
this is one great kit. i went from a groove percussion standard kit to this beautiful drum set. i knew DW was a great brand and i wanted to upgrade, and i didn't even try this one out before i bought it. as soon as i sat behind this beautiful creation i fell in love with it. the sound that comes from this is SO amazing and it fells awesome! this is diffidently worth the money and i highly recommend this product to any one that needs a great kit for a small price.
I have owned my LX Kit for two years now and I love them. I'm a Pro and I play my LX Kit more than I play my "Broken Glass" DW set...hard to believe I know but it's a fact. For the money paid and the sound you will get well, you can't go wrong.
I have been playing The DW Pacific line since the late 90's and know what they are, and I am even more impressed with these LX drums (if that is possible). They contain features that I have not seen on any other brand of drums, except maybe the Mapex M series. They are very very easy to tune, and the standard bass drum pillow makes such a huge difference in sound over bass drums that do not have them. Plus the all maple shells are unbelieveable. In my experience they have the tightest tone, and it doesn't matter what style you play, they have great projection. The 2 downsides are the Drum Heads, and the lack of a 3 way tom mount. The standard heads are ok for the short term and can be tuned well enough, but you will definately want to upgrade to the 6 hole ported DW head, and put a good set of 2 ply heads on (I prefer the Remo Pinstripes). The old Pacific Kits came with a Tom mount with 2 L arms for the toms and a multi clamp for attaching a cymbal boom pre molded into it. This LX kit does not, and it is a feature DW needs to put back. All in all, this set Rocks no matter what you want to play.
For years, I tooled around with the idea of buying a 1500 to 2000 dollar kit since I was tired of my old Tama that was about 15 years old. I gave these a try and bought them that same day. The mounting system for the toms is excellent and the toms really cut through the rest of the music when playing live. I love snares that have a great crack to them, and this one did not disappoint. I couldn't believe how inexpensive these shells were, when I played them they sounded like they were worth over 2 grand. I had a few problems controlling excess resonance on the bass drum so I threw some old clothes in drum and that solved the problem. Now when I use my double bass the bass doesn't sound like a constant rumble, it is articulate. I've owned my PDP set for 3 years and have never been disappointed through out that time. The more I play them, the more I love them.
I am 20 years old and been on the drums since seven, and played a lot of kits and a lot of different brands. Stuck to pearl religiously for about 6 years, but I took a chance and grabbed this set up in aztec gold and WOW!!. Not only does it look good but just through some remo emporer coated heads on, grab a new snare and rock.
